INTRODUCTION
Every business organization use project management process to make their firm stable in
any difficult situation, managing project become challenging for company but this provides
competitive advantage in the market. This study is based on Tesco, this company is one of the
largest retail giant who rule over retail industry. This report will discuss overview of the chosen
project and describe its aims and objectives (Boyle, 2017). Later this report will discuss
appropriate project management plan including WBS and Gantt chart and will describe project
planning tools and their strength and weakness and will reflect their usefulness on chosen
project.
MAIN BODY
Overview of post covid situation, a case study of Tesco:
Every business organization need to be prepared to face future impact of COVID-19,
Tesco is one of those companies who focus on continuous improved with innovative practice.
Taking post COVID-19 precaution allow company to be effective when situation become worst,
proper project management plan help Tesco to stay stable throughout the impact. Tesco have
wide range of products and well know for retails goods especially groceries, during COVID-19
impact, company face huge losses and become unstable approx. (Harrison and Lock, 2017). 175
Million euros loss impacted company's stability. Tesco is following every guideline provided by
the UK government and ready to contribute in the betterment of the country. Tesco has starting
losing its share in the market and movement of competitor become biggest challenge. With the
help of post covid preparation, Tesco not only become stable in upcoming impact but this allow
them to get first mover advantage in survive the pandemic. Tesco strategies for recovering of
losses allow them to become strong in high competitive market.

The Delphi Techniques: the Delphi techniques is one of the most effective tool of project
management allowing company to analyse opinion of experts and elicting new idea to make
project successfully (Heagney, 2016). It is very clear that company look for advice of expert that
have experiences in managing these major projects, their expertise become essential part.

Company try to estimate future demand with the help of expert that forecast risk, cost and
schedule, overall review of data and providing project summary become beneficial for the
company.
Work breakdown structure: WBS is another effective project management tool that allow
company to breakdown important task in subgroup and help company complete them in effective
manner. The strength of WBS lies in easy usage method that help company to avoid any difficult
method in completing of the project, it is very clear that when company divide each step then it
becomes easy for them to achieve desired result of successfully project. Although, weakness of
WBS lies in complexity that may arrive in the process.
Gantt chart: Gantt chart is most used project management tool that allow company illustrate
project plan in proper digital manner, this chart have bars that visualise work and allow company
to understand each and every step required in the completion of the project. From forecasting to
completion, Gantt chart is most effective and most used tool (Kerzner, 2017). Not only project
manager but each worker can analyse their work with the help Gantt chart, although there are
certain weakness of Gantt chart, these are; it is too complex and flexibility become an issue.
Reflecting usefulness of project planning tool on post-COVID situation of Tesco:
The Delphi technique: Tesco is facing huge losses due to COVID-19 impact, this company
have beard almost 175 Million euro as loss during pandemic, in post-covid preparation, Tesco
can use Delphi to analyse advise of expert (Kerzner, 2017). It is very clear that COVID-19
impacted every industry badly , especially retail industry, from the past failure, Tesco can
process opinion of expert group and craft those strategies to make next move more effective, this
techniques is very useful for the company as several rounds of questionnaire with expert clear all
doubts of the company.
Work breakdown structure: Tesco's post COVID preparation will help them to cover previous
losses and avoid upcoming losses as well, with the help of WBS, Tesco can breakdown their post
covid project into steps and perform them one by one to achieve success. WBS is very useful for
the Tesco in terms of dividing or breaking project into several parts. Post covid situation will be
done on several parts, company need to be prepared to manage these steps, crafting WBS not

successful. Strength of WBS lies in steps, these steps will help Tesco to boost their productivity
and will allow them to remain active throughout the process. Although weakness of WBS for
example; step by step process required more time that impact completion time.
Gantt chart: Tesco's preparation for post covid situation will allow them to become active in
tough times and will help them to generate profit even after loss (Kerzner, 2018). With the use of
strength of Gantt chart, this company can achieve this project successfully, for example; Gantt
chart provide clear representation of project task that help Tesco to analyse resource required in
the progress. Although weakness of Gantt chart for example; tedious to manage and update to
chart become challenging for the company.
The risk management process for postcovid preparation of Tesco:
Step 1: identification of risk: Tesco will going to face major hazard during the process, risk
will impact post covid preparation of the company (Levy, 2018). The biggest risk Tesco will face
is failure of the project because there is high chances where company will lack behind in
managing COVID situation.
Step 2: Analyse the risk: analysing risk is very important for Tesco because this may result in
failure of the project at the starting stage, it is beneficial for company if project fail at the starting
rather than in the middle of after completion.
