There are several traits and competencies that are important for a project management to
have as his personal quality and characteristics. For instance, effective communication skill is the
most crucial part for the managers in order to communicate with the people attached with the
project. According to Hassan, Bashir and Abbas (2017) the core responsibility of the project
management is to set project goals and explain it to the other members who are engaged in the
project. Clear and specific explanation of the project objectives is highly required for achieving
success in the project because through the right projection of the goals and objectives of the
project. On the other hand, leadership skill is also taking into consideration as it is the role of the
project managers to guide and control the entire workforce engaged in the project management
practice. As far as the research of Meng and Boyd (2017) is concerned, it can be argued that the
leaders plays a pivotal role in motivating and encouraging the team to get maximum performance
which is a highly desired practice for positive outcome of the project management process. As a
result of that leadership skill creates proper guidance for the team to get motivated and acts as
per the project requires.
There are also the decision making ability and in-depth expertise in the relevant
technology is also desired from the project managers to mitigate the issues and potential risks
that can jeopardize the achievement of the project. Montequin et al. (2015) opined that decision
making in project management has a great ability to shield the success of the project from any of
the detrimental factors. It is also the responsibility of the project managers to set the right
decisions that will bring strategic advantage for the achivement or future orientation of the
project. Apart from that the project management also needs to be aware of the entire project

management practice. As he is being recruited as the supervisor of the entire project management
framework therefore he must have enough knowledge regarding the process and the
technicalities that are used in the project management practice (Wang et al., 2016). In addition
with this, identifying the skills of the team members is also important for the project managers to
get because of developing an effective team to perform the project. In this regard, the role of the
project manager is the set a well skilled team which is dealing which is highly adaptive and
flexible enough to perform extensively. Therefore, it is crucial for the manager to identify and
recruit people as per the requirements that the project needs. Furthermore, the attitude and
patience of the manager is also referred as eminent for the accomplishment of the project
because the entire project is depended on his verdict and clear understanding of the project. The
patience and good attitude of the project manager also help to generate a good character of the
project manager because it creates an amicable situation with the people or team members. As a
result of that all these factors are highly essential for the project managers and make the project
manager effective enough to handle the project efficiently.

It is highly pertinent for the project manager to identify the proper project management
method to perform and complete the project because of getting positive outcome from the project
and also set the objectives in respect to the project so that it will assist to achieve a successful
project. In this regard, there are two significant methods that the project manager can follow as
per the requirement of the project.
The first method of project management methods is named as benefit measurement
method where the project manager can be able to implement the method directly. In other words,

it can be stated that the purpose of the benefit measurement method is to facilitate a less complex
procedure where specific models are taken and compare the value of different models so that the
best fitted or the high valued model will get selected as the core method of the project
(Kostalova, Tetrevova & Svedik, 2015). There are several forms of project management models
and methods are listed in the form of cost benefit ratio, discounted cash flow and net present
value.
On the other hand, there is also constrained optimisation methods that are responsible to
get used in complex project management practices. The objective of this method is to perform
mathematical calculations for the benefit and requirement of the project and supplements a
partial impression of the expected result of the project (Cameron, Sankaran & Scales, 2015).
Methods like the linear programming, integer programming and dynamic programing are
associated with the constrained optimisation method and is entitled to provide a rational and
calculative justification for choosing the specific method rightly.
