Project management in the global market reflect major strategic decision and could be
challenging to implement as there are various other international constraints that are responsible
for the opportunity of threats to complete the project. Thus, the project manager plays vital role
in such a situation. The evidence suggests that there are some standard traits for the project
manager that may impact the success factors for the project. This include shared vision as one of
the major traits that reflect that manager must be responsible for providing direction to the team
while managing a particular project, which will result into accomplishment of the project goals.
Communication is another major trait that is responsible for the effectiveness of the project
manager especially in global market, as the language barrier is one of the major problem
identified in the project, which only be mitigated with effective communication (Muller &
Turner, 2010).
Moreover the project implementation is dynamic and major changes can be part of the project
execution, thus in order to change the process, roles and responsibility within the team, it is
relevant for the manager to disseminate the right amount of information with correct structure
way. Creativity and innovation, the project is executed in the global market with creativity and
innovation integration with the logics and realistic strategies. The project manager will be
responsible for balancing the creativity among the team and logic that is ensuring if the idea
generation of innovation is approachable, validate and realistic approach can be consider. In
addition to this, flexibility is another trait that will affect the project accomplishment and
management of the project. The project manager has to consider various constraints in the
execution of the project, in case the manger shows rigid trait, it will not be possible to make the

appropriate changes which would be require as per the changing situation, which could be a
cause for project failure ( Ipsen & Nielsen, 2017).
One of the projects as per the personal experience includes new product development project and
market in international market. Selection of project and process could be considered by
qualitative or quantitative methods. This will be responsible for rational selection of the project.
The quantitative method could include cost benefit ratio which will provide the measurement
method to assess the cost of the project and the benefits related to the investment in the project in
case the benefits are higher than that of the cost involved it can be said that the higher cost
benefit ratio must be selected. Some other method of project selection could be net present value,
payback period. These methods will reflect the investment and return on the investment
considering amount and time, which may provide rational decision making process (Procter,
2014).
Moreover the project management process may include five stages that are the initiation stage,
planning stage, execution of the project stage, finalized stage, and monitoring and control stage.
This will include establishing the scope for the project and with which will be turned from
planning to execution and continuous controlling process a project manager could accomplish
the project goals effectively (Nauman, Khan, & Ehsan, 2010).

The traits of the manger are not any scientific constraint, this reflect behavioral, which may
impact the traits and behavior of the manager of the project. For instance, the leadership style is
responsible for the leader’s reaction and way to process the project. For instance the situational
leadership could be helpful in the situation and the project manager may reflect different traits
and competencies while managing a particular manager. Since the project is not defined and in
case of global project management, the external environment is very dynamic which may reflect
need for different competencies other than the standard one. Moreover the project management
has a very wide scope and opportunity, which may impact the opportunities and challenges for
the project manager while conducting the project execution in global market.
