Project
AI Summary
This project analyzes strategies for early project completion, addressing the unexpected need to meet a new deadline due to an earlier train arrival. The solution explores two primary techniques: eliminating lag time in the project schedule and removing task dependencies. The document explains how removing pre-allocated lag time can reduce project duration, but increases the risk of failure if employees underperform. Furthermore, the removal of dependencies allows for concurrent execution of tasks, thereby decreasing the overall project timeline. By combining these approaches, the project aims to be completed before the new deadline without exceeding the allocated budget. The analysis highlights the importance of strategic planning and efficient resource allocation in project management to achieve timely and cost-effective results.

EARLY COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT
Transcript
Hello Kim, it is shocking to listen to such a news. As everything was already planned and
schedule and the entire project was going as it was planned. However occurrence of emergency
in inevitable. So there is a need of adaptation in the strategies and approaches on which the
project is being executed currently. As it has been stated that there is no extra fund that can be
provided for facilitating of the project. This ensures that the project assessment will have to be
performed in a whole new manner. However it can be assured that the project can be completed
and executed by the time that is present.
There are 2 major techniques that are to be implemented for completion of the project
within the deadline that has been set lastly due to the early arrival of the train. The very first
option that is to be chosen is checking whether there are any lags considered while planning of
the project. In general cases it is seen that there are lags considered while planning of the project
as it is estimated that all the activities will not be going on as they are expected and in case of
failure of one activity will be hampering the success of the entire organization. Hence proper
estimation of the lags that are present in the schedule is to be calculated. After calculating the
time that has been considered as lag time in the schedule is to be eliminated. In complex project
present of critical path during the scheduling process is always present. In case of critical path
delay in a single step affects the functionality of the entire project suffers. The scenario what
happens is like incase one of the task possesses a lag time. And another task is critically
dependent on that activuity itself. In that case what happens is that due to the lag time present in
the activity the activity itself gets slowed down and along with the single activity the entire
process gets slowed down as well. The reason that can be considered behind this is that the
activity which is already having a lag is being depended on and hence time required for

completion of the entire project keeps on increasing. This affects the completion of the project in
a negative manner. Hence removing of the pre allocated lag time will be ensuring that the time
that will be required for completion of the project will be decreasing. The sole issue that is
present in this approach is that there will be no scope of error for the employees who will be
working on the project. In case the employees perform any of the task with lower efficiency the
project is ought to fail.
Another aspect that is to be considered for decreasing the time that has been already
scheduled is understanding the dependencies among the tasks that are being performed and
remove the same. It has been seen that during performing of the planning process, each activity
has a dependency. In most of the cases the dependencies are the previous activity that have been
performed and in few cases the dependencies comes from a different activity number. Another
aspect of having a critical path makes a tasks dependent on are activities that are not the ultimate
previous activity. After understanding the dependencies removal of dependencies is considered
as a primary strategy for reducing the excess time that was to be taken for completion of the
project. By removing the dependencies more than one activity can be running concurrent to each
other. This concurrent running of the activities will ensure that more than one activity is being
performed at a time. This performing of more than one activity at a time will definitely be
decreasing the time it was ought to take complete the project. Hence using this approach will be
acting beneficial in the process.
Hence if both these approaches are merged together it is obvious that the time that will be
taken for completion of the project will get reduced by a huge time period. Hence it can be stated
that the project can be completed before the train arrive. Not only the time that will be required

for completion of the project will get reduced but also the cost that will be required for
completion of the project will remain unaltered.
From the above discussion it can be assured that the entire project will be completed
before the day the train will be arriving and the newly allotted deadline.
