Proposed research topic: using flip classroom learning & project management education.
1. Research gap and rationale for undertaking the proposed research
There are diverse categories of challenges related to the concept of flipped classroom, which is not
discussed by any of the researchers on the recent peer-reviewed articles (Wang, Qi & Li 2019). The
drawbacks include the division of students based of digital backgrounds, the huge infrastructural
cost required to incorporate the technologies required to work with flipped classrooms such as the
smart gadgets, internet connection and computers, technical challenges related to the equipment
which are used in the flipped classes and the health concerns of the students who are studying in the
flipped classrooms for a longer period of time. There are numerous challenges related to project
management education as well which are not discussed by any of the researchers in the recently
published journals. The challenges of this education technique include the data security attacks
coming from the social engineers, as a result of most of the essential documents can be exposed and
it can lead to issues such as data alteration. Most of the journals focussed mainly on the advantages
of project management education, however, the drawbacks of the concept is not described in any of
the recent peer reviewed journals. Thus, it can be stated that the drawbacks of each of these concepts
are not critically evaluated in most of the recent journals.
Insufficient information about a topic which limits the ability to reach of conclusion from the
perspective of a research analyst can be defined as the research gap. Research questions and the
objectives of the research which is stated in the initial sections of the research paper are very much
useful regarding the identification of the research gaps in an article. Research gaps exist due to the
inability of the researchers who have conducted their researches without covering the unexplored
areas of the selected topic. The decision making ability of the researchers is very much significant
behind the research gaps in the peer reviewed journals. Thus, it can be said that most of the
researchers who have stated their opinion about these two concepts focussed only on the usability
and the advantages related to them. The research gaps existed due to the methodologies considered
the researchers as well, most of them considered secondary data in the articles, hence no real time
information about the selected topic was considered or analysed in the articles.
However, this research report shall be very much useful for the readers as it will primarily focus on
the limitations of both flipped classroom and project management education. Most of the limitations
of these two concepts shall be evaluated in this report. Thus, it can be said that some of the research
gaps of the peer reviewed articles shall get addressed in this research report. This research report
shall be very much beneficial for most of the educational environments who want to incorporate
these two concepts in their contemporary business environment. The reason behind the exclusion of
the missing information shall be focussed by the analyst of this research report before analysing the
research gaps.
2. Literature review of ten (10) scholarly journal articles
a) Literature review
Based on the discussions of Zhao et al. (2020), all forms of learning can is supported from the flipped
classroom approach. The researchers of this article helped in understanding that this approach is
very much user friendly and can be used in different types of educational courses starting from the

toddlers to the highest level, both the oral and the visual learning techniques are supported in the
flipped classrooms. The problem solving ability of a weak student can be enhanced with using the
flipped classrooms. Supporting the above article, as mentioned by Yuan, Sun and Liu (2018), data
accessibility in the education industry can be improved due to the practice of the flipped classroom.
The researchers of this article suggested that the communication issues between the lecturers and the
students can also get addressed due to the flipped teaching approach. Thus, it can be understood that

et al. (2019), there are challenges associated with flipped classroom, the long videos which are seen
by the younger students can have health concerns such as Myopia. Obesity and strain are the other
two essential drawbacks related to this technology as well based on the discussions of this
researcher. The researchers of this journal stated that the level of intensity of the course cannot be
understood by the student who are using this online classroom approach for the first time. Practical
guidelines to the teachers cannot be given using the flipped classroom approach as well based on the
discussions of this article.

students who are preparing for the project management education. The online classrooms provided
from the flipped classroom can be very much beneficial to address the complex concepts of project

can be created using flipped classrooms as well. The researchers stated that a formal project
management environment which is required for project management education can be created by this

(2019), there are other disadvantages related to flipped classrooms as well in terms of the fixed
schedule of the students which cannot be changed under any circumstances.
However, there are numerous gaps related to these literature research as well, such as the protection
of the data which are accessible from this learning technique. Data security issues were not
discussed by any of the researchers in the above literature support. Wrong assumptions and the
perceptions of the students about the project management education cannot be managed by the
lecturer under any given circumstances as mentioned in this article.

4. Research methodology for the proposed research
i) Purpose of a research methodology
A systematic way to address a research problem can be defined as a research methodology. The
work of describing and evaluating the phenomenon is also known as the research methodology.
There are numerous motives behind the selection of the research methodologies such as exploration
of the topic, provide a detailed description of the selected topic, explaining all the concepts related to
the topic and applying the topic in a relevant scenario or business case. The topic can be familiarised
in a better way with the help of methodology as well (Jitjumnong & Suksakulchai 2019). The
variables and the hypothesis of research can be understood in a detailed modus with the help of
methodology. At the same time, it can also be said that research methodology is very much useful to
improve the reliability of a research report. Methodologies are very much significant for the readers
of a reach report to understand the procedure adopted by the analyst of research for the successful
completion of a project (Wu 2018). Research methodologies include the philosophy which is
considered by the analyst of the report, the research design which is considered by the analyst to
design the structure of the report, data collection, sampling and analysis procedure.
ii) Proposed research methodology
The data collection procedure which is considered in this research report is from secondary sources.
Data shall be collected from peer reviewed journals where reputed scholars from all over the world

and the research design which is considered in this research are interpretivism and explanatory
design, and it can be said that the selection of these methodologies is entirely based on the data
collection procedure which is selected in this report. Data was collected on the basis of the random
sampling technique, and it was analysed using the qualitative method. Thus, it can be said that this
research report considered only the qualitative method.
iii) Justification for choosing the proposed research methodology
The selection of the research design is entirely on the basis of the limitations related to this research
project. The two prime limitations of this research are lack of budget and the lack of sufficient time.
The selection of the research methodologies of this research revolves around these constraints (Yi
2019). Lack of time has led to the selection of secondary data collection, and lack of budget has led
to the selection of qualitative techniques; as the cost of the software which is required to analyse the
primary data which has numeric values shall be a source of concern for the analyst of this research
report (Peng 2017). To remove the biasedness of the secondary data, random probabilistic sampling
was chosen as the sampling method for this research. The selection of interpretivism reflects that
deeper insights into the collected data shall be analysed in this research. Better understanding of the
topic is one of the prime reason behind the selection of explanatory design in this research. Thus, it
all the methodologies considered by the analyst of this research has been justified.
