Abstract
The report is prepared for the House Renovation project for a large property investor based out of
UK. The report includes the network diagram, critical path, and schedule details along with the
information on risk management and managerial activities for the project. The scheduling of
the tasks becomes easier with the aid of the critical path method. Also, the allocation of the
resources in the project is simplified with the use of the method.
For this project, resource risks are assigned with the score as very high and therefore, it shall
be treated on highest priority. The risks as health & safety and communication risks shall be
handled thereafter followed by quality issues and project-based issues.
The use of communication, training, professional development, and rewards system shall be
done to motivate the resources.

Introduction
A large property investor in UK wishes to renovate his house. It is desired by the investor to
restrict the costs to minimum value and therefore, only one worker is assigned to a specific
activity at a particular instance. There are numerous tasks that will be involved in the
renovation process. The duration and flow of each of these tasks is provided by the investor.
The report includes the network diagram, critical path, and schedule details along with the
information on risk management and managerial activities for the project.
Network Diagram
Network diagram in a project is a diagram that graphically represents the project tasks and
activities and showcases the connection between these activities. The network diagram for
the house renovation project is depicted in the diagram below.

Critical Path Discussion
The critical path of the project is shown in the image above.
There are numerous advantages associated with the critical path method. Some of these
advantages are included in the points below.
 The project is divided in to a set of components and activities as per the critical path
method. The activities that are listed down are then mapped with the earliest start and
finish dates that may be feasible. The critical path provides the understanding of the
longest duration of an activity and the entire project. It is the maximum duration
feasible without impacting the delivery dates. The information can be useful for the
project managers and leaders to avoid the issues of schedule overrun.
 The scheduling of the tasks becomes easier with the aid of the critical path method.
Also, the allocation of the resources in the project is simplified with the use of the
method. The choice of deploying the new resources and the most effective resources
in the project is made clear with the aid of this method. The new resources can be
deployed on the float to avoid any further delays in the project (Lee, 2014).
 The project is divided in a series of components with the aid of the critical path
method. The development of these activities and short-term goals make it easier to
keep a track of the progress. Also, the additional resources and the associated time
lags can be identified with the help of this method. The overall management of the
project becomes simplified for the leaders involved.
 The scheduling of the project is effectively done along with the allocation of adequate
resources to the project tasks and activities. Therefore, the costs of the project are also

easily managed. The avoidance of over-spending the costs is achieved (Moghayedi,
2016).
Discussion of 2 Workers/6 Weeks Constraint
There are certain constraints that have been applied in the project. These include the two
workers and six weeks constraint. The schedule that has been developed as per these
constraints and the flow provided is as included in the table below. With the design of this
schedule, over-allocation of the resources was witnessed for the tasks 1.3, 1.4, 1.7, and 1.11.
The resources are available for 5 days in a week and only one worker could be assigned to an
activity.

Over-allocation of the resources shall not be present in the project. In this case, there is only
one worker available for one job and therefore, the over-allocation is not feasible. With
adjusting the resources and the project activities, the minimum duration achieved is 37 days.
This does not meet the constraint of six weeks duration for the project. Therefore, the
constraint of 2 workers/six weeks is not feasible for the project as per the duration assigned
for each of the project activities involved.

There are four risk scores that may be obtained as low, moderate, high, and very high. The
risk scores as very high shall be given the highest priority followed by the scores as high,
moderate, and low.

Opportunities Discussion
There are several opportunities that have been identified with the assessment of the risks
associated with the project.
 The communication channels involved in the project shall be effective and enhanced
so that the project communications are streamlined. The use of varied communication
channels as emails, reports, social media, and tele-conferencing can be done so that
the project communications are effective at all times.
 The project managers and leaders can conduct the reviews and audits to determine the
compliance levels and the gaps, if any (Hwang & Chua, 2011).
 The project quality can be maintained and improved on the basis of the compliance
levels and review results.
 The resource engagement levels can be improved through the conduction of one-on-
one discussions with the resources. The resources will feel involved and important in
the project.
