Introduction
Project Management can be identified as the practice of identification, initiation,
planning, execution as well as controlling and closing the work of a particular team of
individuals. According to,(Kerzner and Kerzner (2017) Project management is generally needed
for complex works in a business like opening a new store, undergoing a marketing campaign and
many more as such.
Steps in a Project Management
It will be easier to get a clear idea about project management by taking an example. ABC
Company private Limited will be opening a new retail store in Aberdeen and therefore the
management of the Company has decided to follow the project life cycle to successfully establish
the new store. The steps are as follows;
1. Identification stage- ‘The identification stage will involve the management and the
stakeholders where they will be identifying the main target of the organization and the
reasons behind the actual implementation of the new business store in Aberdeen.
2. Design Stage- The design stage involves the planning and the designing of the project by
the stakeholders. As said by, Kerzner (2018) it will also involve the selection of the
project manager and the team which will be working under the project manager and assist
him in setting up the new store and then promoting and marketing it strategically across
the city.
3. Implementation Stage- The implementation stage will refer to the implementation of the
project. The main target of the team and the manager of the project in this particular

phase will be to implement the different processes like setting up the building or leasing
the building, organizing the store and many more as such.
4. Evaluation Stage- The study of Serra and Kunc (2015) has revealed that in the
evaluation stage the project manager will be checking whether to meet the target of
opening the new store has been achieved or not. The persisting problems will be then
observed and answered accordingly.
5. Project Monitoring Stage- The monitoring stage in the project will involve the likes of
the implementation of small changes like that of changes in the arrangement of the
displays inside the stores, changes in different types of promotional policies and many
more as such (Stark 2015)
Conclusion
The analysis of the above mentioned steps to establish the new retail store in Aberdeen is
the main objective of the report. The report has shown the process on the setting up and
implementation of a particular project plan that ensures success for the organization.
