1 INTRODUCTION
A project is exactly not a routine operation but it is a specific heat of operations that
are designed to reach a singular goal. A team is assigned including people who have to work
together sometimes within the same organisation oh sometimes across multiple geographies.
Therefore it is essentially important to learn how to effectively implement a team for
successfully managing an entire project. The following assignment would thus hold the
project management methodologies that have been long overcoats of 10 weeks and divided
into three separate regions of learning outcomes. The first learning outcome would explain
the reasons why organisations adopt project management methodologies with evidences. II
learning outcome would present and critically analyse the impact of project management
methodologies appoints the stakeholders of an organisation with evidences. III learning
outcome with explain and justify the major elements of a project management methodology
that might meet the needs of an organisation. With the help of these learning outcomes
achieved by learning the project management methodologies over a course of 10 weeks a
consolidated portfolio can be obtained.
2 COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
2.1 Learning Outcome 1: Explain reasons why organisations adopt Project Management
Methodologies
Summary
It is important for every organisation to adopt certain project management
methodologies in order to complete any project that is adhered to them. The first learning
outcome to deal with the reasons why an organisation adopts project management
methodologies. This would include the learning outcomes that I have achieved from the topic
and reading samples comma the personal learning outcomes from my experience and the
supporting documentation that I have received within my course. This learning outcome has
been achieved over a course of 4 weeks. The works would include all that I have learnt in this
duration of 4 weeks in a summary with proper evidence. From the reading samples that I
have gone through, I have been able to differentiate between a process and a project (Mir and
Pinnington 2014). I have learnt that every organisation needs to have an ardent project
manager who plays a significant role in maintaining and organisations performance with their
implementation of a successful project. I have come across the fact that the performance of an
organisation stands on a project manager's shoulders and how ably he can carry out the major
activities for the development process of a project. This would lead to the cooperation and
development of coordination among the other members who are involved in the project. A
project is only successful when it is completed within the given time and the proposed budget
that has been allocated for it before (Muller 2017). However it is also to be kept in mind that
this should previously be clear to the customers with all the specification about the project
and this has to be done by the project manager. It is also necessary that the project is
implemented suitably and easily with the gathered information required for the project and
knowledge been transferred to every work force involved in the project. However I have also
come across that successful implementation of any project is related to cognitive approaches
that can be used to develop the solution to complex issues. I have come across the fact that
Document Page
appropriate methodologies must be used to develop a suitable Framework that can be used to
support the working standard applicable in the organisation (Pace 2017). Therefore from the
first week I have gathered extensive knowledge about the way in which project management
can be used to achieve completion of a project following all the life cycle stages necessarily
involving all the managerial staff.
In the second week of learning I have gained knowledge about how a project
management can come across different barriers. A project in come across complex problems
such as time constraints, cost constraints and realisation of benefit. This leads to my
introduction in to effective decision making in project management. The books have also
guided me and highlighted the fact that developmental process of any project management
starts from the very beginning of the project. Therefore it is essentially necessary that special
focus is given to the requirements and implementation of the selected designed and later on
appropriate verification of the design chosen for the project (Lam, O'Donnell and Robertson
2015). Therefore with the successful initiative of the manager the completion of the project
can be done very easily. The primary onus of the project manager is to maintain every
responsibility of a project right from the start to the end maintaining absolute responsibility
throughout the project with proper decision making in case of critical issues and awareness of
handling the points of failure in a project.
In the third week of my learning outcome after evaluating everything from the
chapters that I have gone through I have learnt that it is not just the responsibility of a project
manager to make a project reach its utmost success (Osei-Kyei and Chan 2017). The people
chosen with their respective skills for the project completion also have the responsibility to
complete the projects within deadline combating all the issues and being helpful throughout.
However it is also the responsibility of a project manager to choose the employees according
to their respective skills in a particular project.
Week 4 of my learning outcome makes me experience that a project manager can be
thoroughly successful by the maintenance of suitable policies and standards. This would help
a project manager in making decisions. Everybody involved in the project starting from the
stakeholders to the employees are dependent on a project manager for a thorough
communication or knowledge transfer. It could be said that the technological advancement
change can only be brought about by a project manager for the betterment of an organisation
through successful project management.
Evidence
As an evidence I can present my own experience that I have seen through my learning
outcomes. Project management is very much dependent on following of industry standards
and terms along with policies (Hornstein 2015). My own tenure in the organisation as an
intern have taught me that project management application in an organisation is very much
associated with strategy following. OPM organisational project management and
implementations of it as per my information gathered is very much associated with
leadership. This is associated with the success of an organisation. A successful project
management methodology adopted and executed leads to the success of any organisation as
per my own experience suggests.

2.2 Learning Outcome 2: Critically analyse the impact of Project Management
Methodologies upon stakeholders
Summary
Through week 5 to week 8 I have learnt the impact of project management
methodologies appoint stakeholders and now I will critically analyse it.
From the learning of week 5 I have seen that organisational project management has a
huge impact on the budget of an organisation (Murphy and Nahod 2017). The budget
prepared prior to the start of a project management is made keeping in mind the position of
the organisation and how much the clients can afford in contributing to the project
maintaining economic justification of the entire project. Every project runs on a specific
budget and it is also to be kept in mind that a client who has offered an organisation to carry
on with the project has a specific budget set in mind for the completion of it. If the
preliminary proposed budget is not justified then the clients can move on to some other
organisation asking for the quotation of the same project and if found feasible it can move on
to the next organisation (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). This would very naturally be a
disadvantage for the previous organisation affecting its stakeholders. Therefore it is necessary
to develop the required skills using all important elements of the project methodology along
with applying the organisational knowledge in a well strategic manner so as to every aspect
of the project management satisfies the budget justification and also supports consistent
progression throughout all stages of the project.
The learning outcomes of week 6 suggest that project portfolio analysis should
depend on current state and future state determination of an organisation. Well planned
application of a project management and project methodology maintenance is also essential
in an organisation level. Proper application of the project methodology enhances the
efficiency of the entire Project Management process and also helps in the smooth
advancement of major factors of the project deliverables (Kerzner 2018). Also the existing
organisational structure is also needs to be maintained since the advancement of any project
would be based on the central factor. All associated stakeholders depend on this enabling
processes and competency management forming the integral parts of a project management.
In addition to this the work breakdown structure functional management has a specific
significance that can prevent managing project conflicts. Therefore I can clearly say that this
unit has been helpful in providing important insights regarding very important aspects of
management of project functions and how it can affect the stakeholders associated with the
organisation.
Evidence
There are evidences regarding this matter as during my internship I have gone through
these experiences that made me understand that overall success of a project depends ultimate
Lee on the entire performance of the team members. Does it is very natural that the collective
set of performance of every individual associated with the project is needed. Therefore it can
be inferred that associated stakeholders are one very important part of project management
and the roles and responsibilities of the associate stakeholders are very important aspects that
need to be considered during the execution of the overall project management system
(Kerzner 2017). As I have served as an intern before I have learnt from my personal
experience that project activities affect all the hierarchical structure of a project management
Document Page
process regarding the work breakdown structure as well as the generation of project
milestone. Therefore there are proper evidences that puts forward the fact that project
management methodologies have impact not only on the organisational structure and the
clients that offer the organisations the projects they require but also every stakeholder who
are associated throughout the project management process in the organisation.
2.3 Learning outcome 3: Explain and justify the major elements of a Project
Management Methodology that might meet the needs of an organisation
Summary
The learning outcomes achieved during week 9 and week 10 explain and justify the
major elements of a project management methodology that meets the needs of an
organisation. It is a general idea that a project is based on the goal that it has to achieve, the
requirements of the entire project and the cost structure or the budget required for completion
of the entire project. It goes without saying that for achieving prosperity of a project with
respect to the contemporary market various types of plans must be made to use (Gonzalez-
Aleu et al. 2018). One of the major tools that help a project to become successful is a project
charter. A project charter is nothing but a set of plans that are needed for the completion of
the project. This can be based either on operation, change management or quality
improvement (Fleming and Koppelman 2016). The project charter will help to compare the
expenditure of a project between the existing and the previous year. This is given me the
inside that every project management methodology tool has certain importance in achieving
success that would also lead to the success of the organisation.
Another project management tool that comes into the aid of a successful project is the
project specification which helps in understanding the goal of the project with respect to the
proposed budget.
Quality maintenance is a project management tool that helps the organisational authority to
bring about improvement in economic standards of the organisation as well as the project
providing updated products in reasonable cost uplifting the financial standard of the company
as well as gaining the trust of the clients. Quality movement age to control quality and the
team of the project plays an important role in this aspect.
Evidence
Although they may not be any personal experience based on project management
tools in my own life, after joining classes it is occurred to me with gradual learning that
different aspects of project management such as Cost Management, quality management and
operation management are essentially necessary for successful management of a project
(Ceptureanu et al. 2017). This learning outcome and its processes can also pose as evidences
of management tools necessary for continuous improvement of a project, in this case which is
achieving a successful learning experience.
3 DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
Throughout 10 weeks of learning about project management methodologies, I have
understood the fundamental knowledge about how a successful project management is
Document Page
achievable with proper project management methodologies. The learning outcomes
throughout the scores on the time span of 10 weeks explain to me how a successful project
can be managed by any project manager who has proper knowledge and specific and
appropriate skills. The first 4 weeks presents the learning outcomes explaining why
organisations need to adopt project management methodologies in order to become
successful through the projects they achieve for the clients. The next 4 weeks of the learning
outcomes presents to me how the project management methodologies impact the stakeholders
that are involved with the project and throughout the organisation. The last two weeks of the
entire learning experience presents to me the justification and explanation of major elements
of a project management methodology of the project management methodology tools that is
needed to meet the needs of an organisation. Does through the learning outcomes that I have
gained over the course of 10 weeks is sufficient for me to understand the proper utilization of
project management methodologies in order to make a project successful for any
organisation.

Chapter 1
According to Kerzner,
the success of a project
is very much
apprehensive with the
maturity of project
concerned as well as
the successful
completion of the
project with the desired
outcome.
From the very chapter,
the information that i
have gained is that a
project can be called
successful if it can be
completed within the
given time and within the
money that had been
allocated to the project.
These are the key
concerns. On the other
hand, it is mandatory to
specify the level of
specification about the
project so that it can be
clear with the customers.
This would decide
whether the customer
would accept the project
after completion. I have
also gathered information
as the manner in which
the flow of the project
can be maintained easily.
In addition, this would
help in making easy the
implementation of the

the project.
