Introduction on Communication and the process
Communication is the fundamental process that helps in communicating with other
members. It is important to have efficient communication process so that it becomes easy to
achieve the key objectives associated with the project. Communication process is divided into
different phases that include sender, encoding, message, channel, receiver and decoding. The
message flows through this channel. However it has been observed that due to noise and other
trouble, the message shared gets hampered. With the help of proper communication it becomes
easy to manage the data and also facts can be conveyed efficiently. The main reason behind
having an effective communication is that it helps in developing a better trust with the members
and also helps in preventing issues efficiently (Howarth and Morse-Jones 2019). Communication
plays an essential role in managing the relationships. Moreover it is also important for the
purpose of improving the productivity.
There are different ways for communicating between the stakeholders and the project
team. The possible communication process that can be implemented includes meeting, group
discussion, via emails or through message. This communication channel helps in communicating
with the major stakeholders.
Importance of communication in project
Communication is considered to be essential element as this helps in successfully
communicating with the stakeholders and other team members that are linked with the project.
The project of QAHE campus refurbishment is considered to be essential factor as this helps in

organizing the objective related to the project. Communication within the project is considered is
essential as this helps in successfully executing the project. Each phases that are essential for the
project needs to be discussed with the key stakeholders so that it becomes easy to successfully
execute a project. Communication is essential for successfully executing a project. The two
different approaches that are integrated within the projects are top down project structure and
bottom up approach. In order to successfully execute the project, it is important for the project
managers to deal with proper communication process (Hyväri 2016). This includes listening to
all the concerns raised by the team members and emphasizes on the goal that is set while
executing the project. With the use of proper communication skills it becomes easy to manage
the performance.
The communication process is mainly divided into two sections that are verbal and non-
verbal communication. Verbal communication includes formal, informal, synchronous and
asynchronous, recorder and unrecorded. On the other hand nonverbal communication includes
facial expression, proximity and gesture of an individual.
The top down approach is used for the purpose of understanding the jobs that are altered
and completed on the basis of higher authority. Apart from this the top down approach includes
employee working for performing proper tasks. It is important for execute a project successfully.
On the other hand the bottom up approach focuses on employee input and is concerned with
company side collaboration.
In order to have a better control over the project, it is important to manage the
communication process. With the use of efficient communication process it becomes easy to
meet the target set by the project managers.

Communication within QAHE refurbishment project
The refurbishment of campus is considered to be an essential project and thus it is
important to design all the key factors properly. The communication process needs to be
developed for the purpose of providing better information within the key stakeholders. The
stakeholders that are associated with the project are project manager, finance manager, QAHE,
contractor, project assistant, project supervisor, team leader, change management supervisor,
procurement manager and the medical assistant (Nicholas and Steyn 2017). There is a need to
successfully incorporate the communication process so that it becomes easy to meet the objective
set by the QAHE. Communication is important within the project as this helps in understanding
the key objective that is associated with the project (Kerzner 2017). The key components that are
associated with the project are that it needs to be completed within £100k budget and will be
executed within the estimated time. Every phase related data needs to be discussed with the key
stakeholders so that it can offer better support towards the project development process.

Project management methodologies are the practices that are used for the purpose of
successfully executing a project. Project managers are responsible for selecting appropriate
management methodology that has the potential to organize the project components effectively.
The main reason behind implementing project management methodologies within an
organization projector is that it helps in achieving the project in time and also focuses on
ensuring that overall risks with the project are minimized (Mandal and Pal 2015). There are
several project management methodologies that can be used within a project this includes
adaptive framework, agile framework, waterfall model, Prince2, rapid application development,
Scrum and system development life cycle.
Waterfall methodology
Waterfall project management methodology is the traditional way of managing the
project. With the help of waterfall project it becomes easy to manage the activities associated
with the project. The key phrases that are associated with water full model include requirement
analysis, designing, coding, testing and operations (Markovic and Salamzadeh 2018).
Advantages: The key advantages that are associated with the waterfall methodology are
extensive documentation, enhanced knowledge within the organization, easy understanding and
helps in developing the project based on the client’s requirement. Hence it can be stated that the
projects that have fixed output can be developed with the use of this model. Hence it can be
stated that with proper project development process it becomes easy to execute the project
(Špundak 2014).

Disadvantages: The disadvantages that are offered with use of waterfall model are that
there is no going back towards the previous stage. The failure of one step will lead to failure of
the whole project. In addition to this it is very difficult to find the error. This methodology is
only suitable for the projects that does not require huge changes at the middle and provides a
planned outcome.
Agile methodology
Agile methodology is referred to the project management method that is executed in
different iterations. The main concern of agile methodology is to develop a project that will
satisfy the needs of the customers fully. These offer a better communication with the
stakeholders and also allow the developer to make changes at the time of project execution. The
main priority is to provide proper service towards customer. Agile process promotes sustainable
development with the better technical support (Lensges, Kloppenborg and Forte 2018). This
ensures that the productivity has also increased while developing the project. The life cycle of an
agile methodology is that it includes planning, execution and the final delivery of the product.
Advantages: The key advantages that are offered with the application of agile Project
management method is that it proposes incremental an iterative approach to words the project,
ensures that every component is divided into different segments so that it becomes easy to
develop customer centric project (Rasnacis and Berzisa 2017). Apart from these agile
management offers better way of making decision. Errors can be fixed in the middle of the
project execution as it allows modification.

Disadvantages: Apart from the key advantages there are certain disadvantages that
hampers the performance of project this includes less predictability at times, tracking becomes
difficult does not have proper documentation and the process is a time consuming.
PRINCE2 methodology
Prince2 is a practice that is based on the components associated with the project. The
project methodology ensures that proper process have been used for analyzing the components
related to the project. This is a process oriented methodology and divides project into different
stages so that it becomes easy to manage the project execution (Meredith et al. 2017).
Advantages: The key advantages that are offered with the use of prince to methodology
are that it helps in boosting the process associated with the project. Project management skills are
handled effectively with the help of project team members and also help in improving the
confidence. With the help of these methodologies it becomes easy to communicate with the key
stakeholders and also offers a business focused project.
Disadvantages: The disadvantage that is offered with the use of Prince2 methodologies is
that it does not cover any soft skill components, requires experience in the field and also need the
senior management for following all the phases (Skogmar 2015).
Conclusion
After evaluating the different methodologies and the importance of communication
process related with the project management it can be stated that prince2 methodology is suitable
for carrying out the QAHE campus refurbishment project. The main reason behind selecting this
project is that it will be break down into different parts so that it can be carried out efficiently.
