1. An overview of the scenario
This project report reflects the role of professional project management practices that are
needed to be widely followed by the project manager and project team members to ensure its
success. The case scenario is about relocation of a family of a two adults Jeff and Kelly along
with their 2 children Will aged 7 & Lexie aged 12, a car and their dog named as Buddy. Jeff has
recently secured designation of a marketing director interstate and currently mainly for the job
purposes the family is interested to shift to Perth from their current location the Sunshine Coast,
Qld. Currently the rental apartment where they are living is two bedroom in Maroochydore and
the new apartment which they have already rented is a four bedroom suburban house in Perth.
The new job of Jeff will be started on 5the February, 2018 and the school session of their
children is going to commence on Wednesday 31th January, 2019. However, they have to vacate
their house on 20th January, 2018 in middle the one year they have to rent anther small house
nearby on the Sunshine Coast, Qld due to their children school. They have no relatives living in
on the Sunshine Coast, Qld therefore, rent is the only option left for them. Their expected budget
is $15,000 within which they have to accomplish the project. A details project WBS, including
milestone and activities are elaborated in this report to make the project must transparent and
visible.

2. The criteria and assumptions used to prepare the milestone plan and task
list (WBS)
2.1 Criteria
The list of criteria must be maintained while implementing this project includes the
following:
 The time between leaving the current location and final shift to Perth Jeff and
Kelly should rent a house nearby Sunshine Coast, Qld
 The newly rented apartment should have good location with adequate transport
communications
 The neighbours are needed to be enough friendly
 There should have availability of healthcare units for both human and pets with
medical stores
 The project is required to be completed within the estimated budget of $15,000
 The total time within which the project must be accomplished is estimated as 20th
January, 2018 and 31st January, 2018
2.2 Assumptions
As soon as the family relocation case scenario is analyzed it has been determined for
accomplishing the transfer a successful project the project associates are required to play serious
attention on each and every undertaken activity. For this specific project triple project constraints
have been chosen in terms of time, cost and scope. It is the responsibility of the project manager
to ensure that its scope is meeting the goals and objectives within one year of estimated time

period (20th January, 2018 and 31st January, 2018). The project is required to be accomplished
before 31st January because the school sessions of the children are going to be started on that day.
2.3 Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
In order to reduce work pressure from the project resources (human and physical) and
implement an error free relocation project the activities the project manager must be divided into
small segments. The prepared WBS for the family relation project is elaborated in the below
section. The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is comprises of four work packages such as
project starting phase, planning phase, execution phase and project closure phase.

In order to implement this project five major milestones are highlighted and under each
of the work package more than two activities are presented. It is assumed that if all these
activities are properly assigned and arranged then implementation of the project will become
must easier and error free. For this specific project two project timelines are prepared. For the

first project the estimated cost is 14,240 and for the revised relocation project the budget that has
been developed costs 13,640. The four milestones for this specific project are also elaborated in
this report.

The responsibilities given to each of those activities are elaborated in the below section:

6. Details of all adjustments made to the schedule
At the initial project the assigned cost is 14,240 and after making all the adjustments the
cost has become 13,640. The numbers of days assigned for some of the activities are reduced to
diminish the overall cost of the project and to keep it within the estimation of $15,000.
Justification for the adjustments
As, initially the cost estimated for this project is 14,240 which is little high therefore, the
cost needed to be reduced to a smaller amount. The final amounted is estimated at 13,640. It is
assumed that the reduced cost will increase the project feasibility. The numbers of days are for

the project is reduced to diminish the overall cost. As a whole the project must not exceed the
overall cost of $15,000.
7. A personal reflection on the process
During the implementation of the project I have realized that in order to accomplish any
project successfully there are certain knowledge areas which requires major focus. The project
management practices include communication management, risk management, procurement
management, and logistic management. For this specific project these are the specific
components must be deeply analyzed to avoid overrunning cost and over allocation of budget. In
order to implement this project the project manager requires to follow basic five project
implementation phases in terms of project initiation, planning, execution, control and monitoring
and project closure. The output of one phase is used as the input to the very next phase In other
words the project management phases are all inter related to each other. Therefore, each of these
phase are required to be scrutinized during its design and implementation period. As the budget
estimated for the project is $15,000 therefore, the activities should be arranged such that it can
never exceed the estimation. As this project is not about any kind of Return on Investment (ROI),
thus the resources or each of the activities should have to be selected wisely.
The other responsibility of the project manager is to ensure that project is not at all facing
any kind of risks during its design and implementation period and even after its closure also. In
order to eliminate wastes from project the project manager is required to assign responsibilities
and roles based on skills and knowledge of the resources. In order to execute the plan proper
tools and technologies are also should be adopted and applied accordingly. In fact appropriate
project management strategies are also needed to be used by the project manager during the

design and development of the project. In addition to this based on requested changes, whether
changes are implementing or not must be monitored by the project managers. The other major
three actions that are to be taken by the project manager include insertion, upgrade and deletion.
The information board should always keep updated according to changing time period.
