INTRODUCTION
Project management is specialized software that helps in managing a particular
project in overcoming all the issues in a project. Heavy road congestion problem is select as
an issue of a project in the City of Perth. This report is all about explaining the project by
identifying all the project activities showcases in form of schedule plan. It also highlights
three essential qualities of a manager in successfully completing a project.
PART A
Project background
In Perth city of the Western Australia, the population is the biggest issue in the city as
it increases the pressure on the city authority in managing all the population. Management of
the population is essential as this helps in distributing public services to all the citizens of
Perth. Increasing number of people in the Perth city creating pressure on the public transports
and roads in form of congestion (Perth's rapidly growing population putting pressure on roads, public
transport, 2014). Length of roads is not sufficient to clear the traffic on roads. People in the
nation face problem while driving on the road as five minutes distance from one location to
another takes around 30 minutes due to heavy congestion on road. Cars and other vehicles in
the city are higher due to a large number of populations as the study says that 108 people
travel daily in cars to roam at various places in or around the Perth City.
A focus of this project resolves the issue of the heavy traffic due to a large number of
population drives on the same road which pressurizes the traffic authority to manage many
people simultaneously.
Project lifecycle
Project manager uses project lifecycle to keep track on the progress of a project
starting from basic to the advanced level in completing all the aims and targets within a given
span of time. Different aspects involved in a project includes risks, cost, quality, time,
performance and overall scope of a project need to define on an initial level to deliver quality
oriented output in the end (Fei, Xue, and Tareef Hayat Khan, 2015). On the basis of time
efficiency of a project is tested as to how long a particular project will complete in a future by
considering all the requirements of a particular project to satisfy the client.
The visual presentation of all the project activities is presented in front of the external
users with the help of network diagrams and the critical path that guide an individual in
focusing on all the activities appropriate to deliver the quality oriented project to the client.
Cost and planning of the project focus on highlighting various costs incurred in a project

presented in form of budgets, the feasibility of a project are checked by applying investment
appraisal techniques. Work breakdown structure helps an individual in delegating work
responsibilities among all the team members in completing all the tasks in less time to deliver
the final outcome to facilitate clients in fulfilling their higher needs and expectations.
Project Scope
The scope of a project includes scope creep that is essential factor enclosed in a project
management plan that shows the tendency of a growth of project by reflecting controlled and
uncontrolled changes takes places in a project. Focus of the current project lies on improving
the roads to manage the heavy road congestion due to lots of vehicles drives on a single road.

Project Implementation
Traffic problem resolve by using road tunnels which are favourable for those people
who are in need as for emergency problems this road will be used by the citizens. Time
schedule introduces in the city to avoid this problem. Another important solution that helps in
dealing with the traffic issue to ban on having one type of vehicle in every family and
bachelor living in the Perth to control the road congestion in the city of Perth.

Project Description
This project is related to increasing the qualitative performance of an entity which is
earning higher revenue in a particular period. Motivation is a qualitative factor which
enhances the entire performance of the business (Woodside, 2017). Woodside petroleum firm is
selected for this project whose non-monetary performance is increased by satisfying all its
employees as there is a large number of employees in the organization such as 1001 to 5000
employees in an entity. Issues of the personnel are considered by the business concern by
executing proper policies in retaining a large number of employees in an entity for long
period.
a) Beneficial change
The deliverables of this project is an execution of proper policy in the organization to
facilitate all the employees. The behaviour of an individual gets improve when the firm
thinks about their needs which enhance the entire performance of the business concern.
External changes are used as an essential factor in redefining the overall business structures
in overcoming all the issues faced by an entity and all their employees (dos Santos Teixeira
et.al, 2016). Technology is used as an important tool in motivating employees to focus on the
work. Motivation technique used by the Woodside petroleum includes increasing job
responsibility of the personnel by promoting along with higher salary and incentives. Higher
employee turnover gets decreases by motivating people as working in a petroleum industry is
very tough as this industry demands quality oriented services. An attitude of the employer is
not lenient with all the employees as delivery quality oriented services is the motive of the
employer. Changing the mentality of an individual about the employer of Woodside
petroleum by introducing innovative practices in which quality ensure by the owner by
maintaining the comfortable environment with the users of the business.

b) Organizational goals
. Project goals decided by an entity owner are related to the implementation of the
motivational technique in an entity (Boyd, Laurel, and Michelle Barber, 2017). The employer
uses different approaches in creating a comfortable environment in the firm to create a
common medium through which an employee can communicate with the top management.
Complexities in the controlling and communication channel get reduce with the time as in big
companies like Woodside petroleum an employee need to pass through various stages in
reaching the top management of the business concern. The project is about improving the
performance of an entity by applying various motivational tools and techniques in retaining
the majority of the employees in the organization.
Project goals are directly linked with the project as goals and the objectives of a
project act as a basic pillar. These targets give right direction to an entity in accomplishing
the desired performance goals (Seymour, Tom, and Sara Hussein, 2014). Project goals are
based on three aspects such as related to the organization, employees, stakeholders, investors
and the clients. Satisfying employees will, in turn, increase the sales and the revenue of an
entity. Image of the firm is an essential factor in attracting the variety of clients towards the
business concern of an entity as in this way higher competitive advantage gain by the firm.
Goals of a project are interrelated with each other as negligence of the project
manager will directly affect the entire project. The success of a particular project depends on
the characteristics of the entire project which helps in completing a particular assignment
with a high level of efficiency to get the desired results.

A project manager will lead their team as a leader who manage the entire project by
considering all the key aspects of a particular project in achieving the desired aims and the
objectives crafted by an enterprise. Project manager develops all the gaols and the objectives
according to the nature of a project (Rahmanian, Mojdeh, 2014). Application of all the skills
and qualities of a project manager is helpful in improving the condition of a project. Project
schedule plan is prepare by the project supervisors in a project that guides the action of an
individual. A particular project plan includes all the activities in a project along with the time
allocated to all the activities. The completion of a project can estimate by the owner by
preparing network diagram or Gantt chart prepare with the help of MS project specialised
software for the project management.

Communication
(Lagiewski, Rick, and Muhammet Kesgin, 2017) has asserted that communication
skill is essential aspects involved in creating a professional personality of an individual. It
acts a medium to convey all the important information from one phase to another in
achieving the desired aims and the objectives of the business concern. Communication can be
of two different kinds such as written and oral communication. The personality of an
individual gets improved with the passage of time when a person applies their skills in
meeting the needs of the client. The success of particular projects depends on the
accomplishment of all the aims and targets of a project. The project can be managed by an
individual by using their communication power effectively. Supervisor of a project will
emphasize on key considerations of a project in taking sustainable advantage over all the
competitor of the business concern. An individual uses this skill in changing negative
information into the positive facts and figures in achieving the desired aims and targets of an
entity. Planning is an essential factor in a particular project which helps in creating lots of
future opportunities. Verbal and non-verbal communication approaches used by a project
manager to convince all the internal as well as the external users.
Team management
According to the study of (Heavey, Ciaran, and Zeki Simsek, 2017) that states that
another trait of a project manager is effective management of a team as a particular team
includes the different background of people who collaborate with a single team. Team
management skill is found in rare people as no one can handle a large people of the group to
focus on a common goal of the business. In a project management, roles and the
responsibilities of all team members are assigned by a manager who understands the
importance of a project to get it completed by its team members. Time, quality and costs are
considered as the three basic criteria’s that judge the accuracy of all the projects to complete
on time. Cost is decided for all the activities in a project in advance to control the cost of
expenditure in completing the whole project in less time along with lesser costs. Quality of
the project deliverables is essential for a business as the expertise of all the team member is
used in providing quality oriented services to the clients. Deciding the structure of a project
team falls under the operations of a project in which organizational structure is created to
provide clear reporting channels follow by all the members working in a single team.
Risk management
From the point of view of (Rodriguez, Pedro Andrade, 2017) that suggests that risk is
negative aspect involved in a project as this shows the deficiency of a project. There are

different kinds of risks involved in a project such as barriers and obstacles involved in
completing a project. Risk incurred in a business creates complexities and difficulties in
conducting a project research for the benefit of a particular project. The risk register is one of
the document prepare by a project manager as this guides the action of an individual in
considering all the risks while concluding the research on a project. Risks register is a
document which includes all the risk incurred in a project along with the consequences faced
by an entity due to the occurrence of all the risks. Various risks are prioritized on the basis of
high, low and medium to give clear insight into all the risks takes places in a particular
project. Corrective measures were taken by an enterprise according to the level of risk
incurred in a project. The performance of assignment can track by an enterprise owned by
evaluating all risks incurred in a business. Risks can be of financial, legal, human resource
and operations. Legal risks involve taking permission of the local and state authority in
conducting a particular research on a topic. Financial risks are related to the over a budget of
costs due to heavy expenses incurred on various activities of a project.
Reflection of the skills of a project manager
The success of a project depends on the application of all the characteristics by a
project manager which handles a large group of people in form of a team. In a given case
scenario, I will handle the position of a supervisor to resolve the issue of redundancies for
150 line workers in an automobile parts manufacturing firm. The higher employee turnover is
improved by implementing latest technology (Fei, Xue, and Tareef Hayat Khan, 2015). The
manual working practices of the entire worker are automated by adopting business process
management software system in which all the operations are performed in an automatic way.
Input is feed into the machines using software which will further process all the information
in generating the final outcomes. In successfully implementing the new system in the firm I
will use these three qualities of a successful manager such as communication, team
management and finally the management of risks takes places in an entity.
I will initially use communication skills to aware employees about the new policies of
the firm in resolving all their issues (Aiyetan, Olatunji Ayodeji, and Das Dillip, 2016).
Providing information regarding motivational policies will help all the employees to retain
the firm for longer time period. I will clarify all the doubts and queries of all the individuals
in explaining the benefits of executing the policy in a business. On the other hand,
management of a team is also important as I will treat the entire employee as equal in a
business by knowing their strengths and weaknesses in allotting the workplace tasks and

assignments. Providing work according to their interest will increases their survival in the
enterprise for a long time. I will manage the risks in a project by preparing risk assessment
plan that includes all the existing as well as potential risk incurred in a project. These risks
will be eliminated by an individual by focuses on the needs and expectations of the clients.
Project manager behaves cautiously when they aware of all the risks incurred in a project to
get rid of the issue on right time.
CONCLUSION
Summary of the above assignment depicts that project issues resolve by the firm by
emphasizes on the three essential qualities of a manager. The most effective trait of a project
manager is effective communication power.
