INTRODUCTION
Project management can be describe as the framework which the consist of different
methodologies, structures, techniques, skills along with experiences in order to successfully
accomplish desired objectives. There are different activities and task of the project that should be
managed in order to successfully and effectively carry out project. This report is based on case
research of “The Pandemic ”. This is a established in London's Dockland area and it is active in
installation, checking and commission of IT along with the communication structures. This
report includes two parts which consist of comprehensive details on the installation of the project
of IT infrastructure.
TASK 1
1. Define the key characteristics of any project.
 There are the many different concepts and features involve in project, given below.
 It design specifically for the customer by analysing them, so that it can be helpful to
provide quality product and services.
 The managing projects are temporary in nature.
 It involves the different sets of requirements which has to be done in at given time.
 Its a done by formatting all the function in appropriate manner.
 Every projects of organisation is made of the combination of different goals which
which has to be done by given dead line.

 mostly project fails and runs over the budget because of lake of knowledge related to the
cost and time management, if the project is not running in flow with time than it will not
complete with deadline of project, and in other hand improper management of money
using in project and if once cost get over budget than it will results towards the
disappointment.
2. Briefly describe each of the Five Stages in Project Management and discuss in
few words the benefits of managing projects in a well-structured manner.
 The five stages of project management are, initiation, planning, execution, performance
monitoring, project closing.

 Initiation is first stage where goals and objectives are set broad level. Involve research
part related to the business.
 Planing this stage involve step by step planing and selection of task, techniques use for it
is S.M.A.R.T gaols.
 Execution involves application of plains and starting of task in right way.
 Monitoring of project to ensure the right flow of work, in time with the right budgets.
 Closing of project is the final step where the achievement of goals is done.
 Management of work in flow gives the appropriate result.
3. Briefly discuss the impact a good and a bad Team may have in terms of achieving and
managing project goals.
 Team work with energy and interest towards the work is important and manger should
inspiring and motivating, it important to make team motivated and inventive, so that they
can work in effective manner and helps in accomplishment of goals in time. Some time
there is bad impact of workers in achievement of goals, as workers are key towards the
success, their efforts and hard work is important. But demotivation and some personal
problems of workers related to the organisation lead towards decreased energy of
workers finally effect the flow of project.

of any two of them
 The nine knowledge areas of project management are, project integration management,
project scope management, project time management, project cost management, projects
human resource management, communication management, risk management,
procurement management. And brief example of two of them are given below.
 Project time management: it is one of the most important knowledge area of project
management which has to mange in effective way. Its a challenging area for the project
manager, its a responsibility of manager to accomplished the project and task with in the
given deadline, and for completing this area manger need to focus on the other stage-
management activities related to it. And those activities are sequencing, scheduling, of
different functions, availability of resources at time etc.

 cost management: it is important to mange the cost of project to prevent the failure, cost
invested on project define the success and failure of organisation. So it is important to
learn the art of budget management by the use of different to tools and techniques.
5. List five attributes or characteristics of a project Manager and briefly discuss any two of the
attributes and give reasons why each is important.
 The five characteristics of project manager, Leading quality,communication skills,
innovative, team work skills, delegation skills, integrity, inspiring.
 Delegation: this characteristics is abut the ability of manager and their team to take
responsibilities and different authority. It is known as the changing of authority from one
person to other. Leader should be able to differentiate task and authority for their team,
and for work accomplishment.
 Communication skill: manager should be communicative and understanding, it is
important because for the batter result it is necessary to inform, analyse and understand
the the different function as well as the understanding of others point of view related to
the gaols.

It the given project is related to development of latest infrastructure centres within
present scenario as it is named as The Pandemic Centre. In addition to this, for managing all
project operations as well as responsibilities there is requirements of proper plan necessary.
Moreover, project administrator have several duties as well as task within given time period for
overseeing implementation of all related project task in appropriate manner. Along with this, all
the project and activities ought to be done in the period which has been decided already. Thus,

while implementation of any plan no challenges or issues should be encountered by leader who
is managing project.
This present project is focusing on building Pandemic Centre and Docklands
Communication Limited which is entrusted to that same project. In addition to this, for
completing entire project operations there is sum budget of twenty thousand pounds.
Furthermore, target for completing project is Sixteen months as well as this timeline is set for
attempting better finish the operations of project within appropriate manner.
Life cycle of the project
Life cycle of the project refer as the process that includes initiation, planning,
implementation as well as closure of the project. This includes different practices and task that
should be consider by project manager in order to successfully and effectively conduct required
practices. Life cycle of the project includes different steps for working project activities in

significant manner. There are different task and practices that are included in life cycle project
which are mentioned below in context of Pandemic Centre is mention below -
Initiation – This is the consider as the first step of project management process and in
this activities of managing project will start. In this step of project management cycle, project
manager is responsible for documentation of different aspects that are needed for project.
Initiation step of project management includes determining different activities and practices that
are included to successfully carry out project practices. In this stage of project process project
manager is responsible for identifying the different task as well as how to perform it. In this
situation, project management practices is related to building new London conference centre
hall. IT computers is significant for enhancing connectivity with in different task of the project.
In this step of project management includes different aspects related to tools needed for
successfully carry out practices. Apart from this project manager will determine the estimated
budget which will be required to correctly and accurately conducting project practices.
In this step, different stakeholders related to project management has been analysed.
Stakeholder lead to have significant impact on effective and efficient functioning of the project
and it will lead to influence on overall performance of project management practices. The major
stakeholders that are related to project manager includes owner of business, project manager,
clients, government, workers as well as other individual that are associated with project
management practices. During the phase of project management, it is responsibility of project
manager to identify and determine different issues and problems related to business.
Planning - This is the second phase of project management plan and in this phase
project manager will plan and determining different ways or approaches to carry out practices. It
is essential for identify and analysing various ways to performing different practices as well as
conducting task in better manner. In this project manager will assist in creating outline of the
task, activities, dependencies along with time frames to perform different task in more accurate
and appropriate manner. Planning stage of the project management is very crucial for
successfully performance of the project along with accomplishing desired goals. Project manager

objective of above mention project whose main goals are mention below :-

Budget: This is consider as an appropriate cost of any mission of operation. This is tough for
project manager to achieve the set project in the success manner of the project. The real expenses
of project should not be increase than the budget. As per budget cost of every operation is
defined. In the above project, the respective budget covers various information as these are
express as follows.
