2 Reflecting on Performance (6 marks)
2.1 Defining success and failure
a) What does success mean to you personally?
According to me, success is the status that an individual has and has achieved the planned goals, and
desired vision. It is the happiness and ability to change what is being done for matching passion is
truly considered as a success (Jennings, et. al, 2013).
b) How did your project perform in relation to Cost, Time, Scope and Quality?
In completing the project the overall cost was about $100. It took one month to me. The scope of the
project includes analyzing the hard and soft skills of mine, collecting the information in relation to the
jobs available in the market, learning of different skills and values. The project was performed in the
best possible manner with the best quality.
c) What can you learn from failures and can they ever be a positive thing?
Failure is part of the life of human beings. Failure prepares for future success. By getting failure a
person can learn the areas where he is lacking and need improvements. It is the positive thing also as I
can work harder in the specific filed where I am lacking and can be more dedicated towards my work.
It will teach me about myself, I will learn attitude towards everything, power handling capacity will
be developed more (Bryk, et. al, 2015).
d) How successful was your project in terms of how you define success for you?
My project was successful as I achieved what I planned in a very systematic way. I was able to
complete the project on time with high quality. It enhances my knowledge and learnings to a great
extent. Professionalism has been developed in me while completing this project.

a) What did you hope to achieve (skills/knowledge/personal insights/ contacts etc.) during your
time in this unit?
During my time in this unit, I was expecting that time-management skills, communication, problem-
solving, leadership skills, conflict-management, team-work, and punctuality will develop in me. I
would gain knowledge about project management and would develop contacts with various persons,
my teachers, and professional leaders.

By making participation in this unit I learned about various skills such as communication, leadership
skills. Now I can better manage my time and has developed the punctuality in me. Many innovative

I was able to utilize my strengths in the project. Due to having effective skills of communication I
was able to easily communicate with everyone and with my team members. Innovative and critical
thinking skills helped me in performing the different tasks and actions very effectively and in an
innovative way making me different from others. Having a positive attitude kept me optimistic and
I handled the risks and face the difficulties in a very calm manner. Strong abilities of analysis made
me able to analyzing the learnings and knowledge of the project deeply.

3 Experiencing challenges in projects (10 marks)
This unit was designed so you will experience several challenges that project managers face. These
include tight timeframes, diverse teams, and requirements that are not necessarily well defined. Being
challenged places us under stress, to a certain point this increases performance. However, as stress
increases, it will start to diminish our performance. The challenging nature of the unit may have raised
differing emotions, you may have felt overwhelmed, excited, frustrated, or a sense of achievement.
You may have felt different emotions at different stages of the unit, this is perfectly normal when
managing projects.
Reflecting on how we each react to stress is important. It enables us to recognize when we are under
stress and how we can manage our reactions effectively.
Experiencing challenges of project management in the university context, although uncomfortable
enables us to be better prepared for the realities of the industry. For example, this unit allows you to
make mistakes that are better experienced for the first time at university than in industry. Can you
think of something you wish you handled better this term?
