Question 2: Risk Management Scenario. (3 marks)
Guy and Samantha are tenants at 11 Somerville Street, Belmore Heights, which is managed by
Evansdale Real Estate. Their four-bedroom property has a swimming pool. The latch on the swimming
pool gate does not always lock properly. They have a 3-year-old son who has managed to open the
pool gate on a number of occasions. They also have a dog that went out of the gate sometimes. They
have sent a letter to Evansdale Real Estate asking for the lock to be fixed. However the landlord is
unwilling to pay for a locksmith to do this. You are the case officer of this dispute resolution project for
this real estate and you will be required to complete the following tasks below.
Explain the process of identifying and managing risk in this case project situation.
In order to identify risk project manager will carry out detail discussion about case with the parents and
come to know about varied scenarios about incidents that happened in past time period. On basis of
parents statements it will identify risk. Thereafter, in second stage it will identify the threats that may
come in existence if further iatch stop working. Accordingly, corrective actions will be prepared so that
it can be ensured that no mishap event will occur in future time period. Process that will be followed to
manage risk are as follows. Identify the risk: In the first stage of risk management risk will be identified by the project

Your project management class is planning to undertake a class website project. Assume that your
instructor is the project’s sponsor, you are the project manager, your classmates are your project
team, and you have three weeks to complete this project.
One of the goals of this class project website is to digitally improve the class experience and also to
provide the most accurate information for all stakeholders in the class. However, you are required to

objective of the project is to provide more accurate and recent facts to the students so that
they come to know about whatever things happened in the current time period or in past few
years. This will update students with current facts and will improve their learning experience in
the educational institute.

Three objectives for undertaking project work are as follows.
 Cost control: It is one of the main objective of the project to control cost. Many times, due to
absence of proper planning cost consistently elevate in the project. Thus, main objective will
be to control cost and, in this regard, first of all estimated will be prepared about cost of varied

ensure that cost is in control.

and effective manner. In this regard in the current project video tutorials and articles will be placed on
the website. Videos will be prepared on the complicated topic. Thus, in this way students will be able
to comprehend topics in proper manner. There are three main objectives behind relevant project and
one of them is to control cost of the project. Thus, it is clearly indicating that cost related objective and

for the project.
Budgets and finance Budget and finance is the one of the most important aspect of
the project because it is life blood of it. Without budget and
finance no project can come into existence or run smoothly. In
order to finance project bank loan will be taken at low interest
rate. Most of budget amount will be financed from the retained
earning amount. After arrangement of finance one need to
prepare budget so that entire amount can be spend in proper
manner. It can be observed that in budget different segments

 Project schedule: It is one of the most important document under which multiple stages of
the project are mentioned in detail. Apart from this, duration within which these stages of
project must be completed is ascertained. In other words, it can be said that date and time
on which project activity must be started and completed is fixed. Thus, it can be said that
project schedule is the one of the most important document as it set a parameter in terms of
time period within which project activity must be started or completed at the workplace.

 Risk management: There are number of risks that are associated with the project. These
risks may be cost elevation or delay in completion of project tasks. A separate documentation

measures taken to handle risk will be mentioned and at end it will be mentioned whether risk
control measures proved successful for the firm.
 Project budget: It is one of the most important document wherein parameters will be set in
terms of budget value for each and every activity of the project. Efforts will be made to control
all expenses within this limit. By doing so it will be ensured that more then budget is not
spending in any project activity.
Question 5: What are the 3 project control methods? Explain with examples and mention what
type of organisations or projects might use each method. (2 mark)
1. PERT and CPM: PERT commonly known as program management and review technique
(PERT) which is network-based management method. It indicates flow of activities and
sequence in which same will be performed. This approach is mainly used in the projects
where duration within which project will be completed is not known to anyone. On other hand,
CPM is the other approach which is commonly known as critical path method. This approach
is used when projects are recurring in nature. Major advantage of using this approach is that it
indicates the time when specific task will start and will end. Thus, use of these approaches
help in cost control and timely completion of the project.
2. Documentation: Under this approach documentation is done under which quality control
manual is prepared. In this manual all procedures are explained in detail. Who will be
responsible for which activity and way in which it will be performed within specific time period
is clearly defined. Procedure for performance of activity is determined in such a way which
lead to control of cost. Person is made liable for performance of activity and by doing so it is
ensured that quality of its implementation will be maintained at the workplace.

Gantt chart
It is the visual variant of time sheet and under this separate
bar are show for each activity which are placed one after
another moving from left to right side. In Gantt chart name of
activity is mentioned along with time within which each
activity will be completed.
Dashboard Dashboards are the one of the most important tool that are
used to measure varied aspect of the project. Under this raw
data can be placed in Google sheet and on first tab
dashboard can be prepared which will include multiple
calculations related to cost and progress rate etc. Just be
looking at dashboard one can easily measure overall
performance of the project.
Work Break Down Structure Work Breakdown Structure is also one of essential part of
project management tools because it help company in
breaking down work in different parts in order to delegate to
various employees. It is a structure where work is been
delegated from upper level to several departments in order
to complete them fast.
