Three strategies effective in preventing of scope creep in the projects
Define the project scope: Lack of proper project scope leads to cause of scope creep. It is
prevented when the client signs agreement of project scope which defines the main purpose of
the project. It requires understanding the requirements of the clients.
Proper project planning: At first the project manager should present the project
initiations documents to the management team to define the project scope. The project is broken
down into minor milestones (Madhuri, Rao & Murthy, 2016). Therefore, a project schedule is
required to define the scope properly and prevent scope creep.
Focus on satisfaction of client: The project manager should focus on strengthening a
positive relationship with the clients. It will satisfy the client in short term which put an effect on
quality of the project.
Three metrics used to monitor and control scope creep
Schedule an effort: This metric is used to measure the performance and also progress of
the project against the baseline. It has key significant importance into profitability of the project.
Earned value management is used to track of this metric (Shirazi, Kazemipoor & Tavakkoli-
Moghaddam, 2017). This metric is useful to develop and monitor the key dimensions of the work
packages into project schedule.
Quality: Quality assurance is defined as the severe, medium as well as low defects which
are delivered throughout project. It is measured to check the customer satisfaction level by
providing quality products and services.
Change of request to scope of work: Uncontrolled change request causes scope creep.
This metric provides with best chance for project success. Success measure of the project scope
is inherent quality on the project delivery. Any type of changes into scope is occurred into
controller way.
