1PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project Goals and Objectives
The overall project requires the construction and development of the proposed St. Dismas
assisted living facility for the patients of St. Dismas Medical Centre. Since, the overall project is
of very large scale, it has been divided into four parts with each part given to each of four
different contractors. The four parts of the overall project include Operations, Legal and
Licensing, Marketing and Construction and Furnishing. Of the four, the focus of this particular
report is on the Construction and Furnishing Project for St. Dismas.
The goal of the project is the construction of the St. Dismas assisted living facility as well
as its furnishing such that it is ready for delivery and use by the patients of the medical centre. As
per the initial plan, the goal is to provide living facility for around 150 patients with proper
furnishing, facilities and amenities required for the patients.
The objectives of the project are as follows.
Residence of the Patients – It has been found that in the current situation, the Medical
Centre is losing the number of patients because there are no medical assistance facilities where
the injured patients can stay and undergo rehabilitation programs. Current system only allows
immediate therapy and medication for the patients after which, they need to visit the medical
centre on regular basis for check-ups and periodic medication process, which is very
inconvenient, especially for the heavily / critically injured patients. With the new assisted living
facility, the patients will be able to stay for the medication period that will be very convenient for
them.

Expansion – In addition to providing the patients with the assisted living facility, it will
also act as one step towards expansion of the medical centre. Once the assisted living facility is
built, it is estimated that the number of patients coming to the centre will increase by 60% within
the next 1 year that will help St. Dismas to grow from its current regional background to national
level. Hence, this project is a part of an important strategic direction of the company keeping in
mind the long term growth and solution to the current problems instead short term fixes with no
specific end goal.
Project Scope Statement
Project scope is defined as the overall limit of the project with each details including
schedule, budget, quality and others specified. The project scope covers the entire span of its
objectives, goals and milestones that must be fulfilled within the limitations of the specified
details.
The main scope of this project involves the construction and furnishing of the proposed
assisted living facility. As per the scope, the project will be executed in four phases, each of
which will deal with specific works related to construction and furnishing. The first phase will
deal with the excavation of site after which, the foundation of the facility will be built. After the
development of the foundation, the basement will be set up and the first floor slabs will be set.
After all the setup is done, the project will proceed to the second stage in which the framework
of the facility will be developed using steel frames. Once the frameworks are properly set, the
third phase can be initiated that will include masonry works, enclosure development and the
installation of doors and windows. Finally, in the last phase, furnishing and interior works will be
