AI Summary
This report examines various approaches and techniques utilized in project management to achieve project objectives. It discusses the traditional approach, which is suitable for projects with minimal changes, and outlines its five stages: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing. The report also details the waterfall technique, a sequential method using Gantt charts for complex projects requiring detailed stages, and the agile approach, a value-centered method that categorizes project work into iterative stages, emphasizing its effectiveness in software development. Furthermore, it covers the critical path technique, an algorithm for planning and forecasting used to identify the longest path and solve critical tasks, and the critical chain technique, derived from PERT, which prioritizes tasks and optimizes time, suitable for projects with limited resources. The summary concludes by highlighting the effectiveness of both critical path and agile approaches in enhancing project management performance.

Approaches and Techniques used in Project
Management
Project management
Project management is the practice of planning,
executing, handling and closing the work in order to
achieve developed goals (Cagliano, Grimaldi, and
Rafele, 2015).
The significance of this poster is to highlight the
methods and techniques used in project
management.
It is argued that project administration is the
application of methods, experience used in the
companies to attain specific project objects.
There are numerous techniques used in the project
administration including agile, water fall, critical path
technique and so on which will be discussed in this
project.
Traditional technique
A traditional approach is a simple process used in the
project management for managing risks.
It is a kind of approach included for project managers
tin order o achieve desired deliverables and results in
the assigned time duration.
Havranek, (2017) argued that the traditional approach
is most effective in the development of projects where
the manager does not require a lot of changes.
There are major five stages involve popular the
traditional approach including instigation, planning,
execution, watching and controller and closing
process.
Waterfall technique
Techniques and approaches used in
the project management
There are following techniques and methods involve
in the project management for achieving developed
objectives:
Traditional technique
Waterfall technique
Agile approach
Critical path technique
Critical chain technique
Kaiser, El and Ahlemann, (2015) reported that waterfall
technique traditional, but it includes the simple
strategies to manage issues in project management.
This development administration method is grounded
on the sequential performance of actions.
The next stage starts when the recent one is proficient.
In order to handle progress and achieved steps,
waterfall technique includes Gantt charts that provide
complete information and clarity about the project.
It also helps to deliver a clear visual picture of stages
used in the project management and dependencies
(Nunes, et al., 2018).
Such kind of technique is mainly utilized for complex
projects in which proper detail of staged are needed
and achieve objectives of the project effectively (Dohe,
and Pike, 2018).

Approaches and Techniques used in Project
Management
Agile Approach
Dulock, and Long, (2015) argued that agile is one of
the best approaches used in project management.
It is set of principles grounded on the value-centered
technique.
Mainly, agile approach categorizes project work
various stages with the help of adaptive planning and
process (Hamad, Fadhil, and Rasul, 2018).
The major advantage of the Agile framework is that it
is more effective that has the potential to complete
the project in the desired time period.
There are numerous techniques involve in the agile
approach for example Scrum, Kanban, DSDM, FDD
and so on.
It is observed that agile approach is mainly utilized in
software expansion projects which contains frequent
iterations and collaborative squads.

Flak, and Hoffmann-Burdzińska, (2015) reported that
the critical path is an important technique used in the
project management.
It is defined as an algorithm utilized for planning and
forecasting project mechanism which is often utilized
in combination with the PERT technique.
Such kind of project management technique is
capable to detect the longest path (Hanief, 2016).
It has the potential to solve critical tasks effectively
and enhance the performance of the project work.
This type of technique is mainly used for performing
complex projects where distribution terms and limits
are precarious,
Singh, and Jankovitz, (2018) examined that critical
Chain is an effective technique which is derived from
the PERT process.
It has the capability to complete the stages of project
in a reliable manner.
It is argued that the serious chain technique is less
absorbed on the rigid task order.
Marcella, and Rowley, (2015) determined that critical
chain technique highlights prioritization,
dependencies examination, and optimization of time
incidentals by which project manager can perform
tasks in an appropriate manner.
Such kind of technique is used for performing multiple
tasks at a time and suitable for projects where
sources are limited.
Critical Path Technique
Summary
It is summarized that the critical path and agile both
are effective approaches and techniques used in the
projects management for completing project
effectively.
This project highlighted the various techniques used
in project management.
It is found that the critical path helps project
managers to solve complex tasks in less time and
enhance the presentation of the scheme
management.
