Introduction/Project Background
A new customer relationship management system has been implemented in XYZ
organization and the staffs and employees of the organization are required to be formally trained
about the working principle of the software. This project requires systematic planning and
execution so that it can be completed within 20 days. The report discusses the activities that are
required to be performed by the team and the project manager through every stages of life cycle
of a project, which include, initiation, planning, execution, controlling and monitoring and
closure. The report further outlines the effect of PMP on team members.
1. Activities to be performed
1.1. Initiation Phase
This is the primary stage of project lifecycle. The key activity that is performed by the
project team is to undertake a feasibility study. This project is feasible to be completed within
20 days and the project budget is approved by the organization. The next activity that is to be
performed by the project manager is development of business case and project charter (Stark,
2015). Along with that, in the initiation phase, the project manager assigns specific roles to the
project team to set up the final team who will be executing the project.
1.2. Planning Phase
This phase deals with preparation of a working plan for proper execution of a project.
The main activity that is to be performed by the project manager is developing a work
breakdown structure (WBS). Based on the WBS developed, the project manager develops a
working schedule that is to be followed for project execution (Hussein, Ahmad & Zidane, 2015).

At this project stage, the project team performs the preliminary risk assessment to identify the
issues that can disturb the normal implementation process of an undertaken project. Based on the
risk assessment report, the final project plan is developed in this phase by the project manager.
1.3. Execution Phase
In this phase, the team will achieve the following activities-
1. Estimation of the number of participants who will participate in the training
2. Development of the Training Modules
3. Setting up the venue for training
4. Inviting the trainers
5. Management of the training program
In this phase, the manager will accomplish the following activities (Chen, 2015)-
1. Performing Time Management
2. Performing Cost and Quality Management
3. Performing the Risk Management
1.4. Controlling and Monitoring Phase
This phase is a crucial phase to ensure project success. In this phase, the project manager
observed the process of project implementation to identify the key problems and risks in the
project to identify and deploy a control process for mitigation of those risk (Cagliano, Grimaldi
& Rafele, 2015). The monitoring of all the activities associated with the project is necessary for

performance measurement. The project team is responsible for preparing reports based on
observation made by the project manager.
1.5. Closure Phase
The closure phase deals with delivering the deliverables to the client. The manager will
perform the project evaluation and the team is responsible for collection of feedback from the
customers (Hunter, Fitzgerald & Barlow, 2014). Finally the project manager will inform all the
stakeholders regarding the completion of the project.
2. Effect of PMP on team members
PMP or Project Management Professional is an internationally familiar professional
designation that can be obtained from PMI. PMP is effective in validation of the competence of
an individual in performing the crucial works related to execution and management of a
particular project.
PMP validates the competence of a project manager to perform the responsibilities
related to leading and directing the project team and successful project completion. PMI
professional certification ascertains that the manager is competent in meeting the demands of the
project and the employers across the globe.
The PMP has a positive effect on each of the members associated with a particular team.
This is mainly because PMP helps in validating the competencies of the members regarding their
ability to perform the key tasks associated with the project. PMP provide a significant advantage
to all the team members when it comes to salary and earning (Farashah, Thomas & Blomquist,

2019). Team members having PMP certification generally garner 20% higher salary than those
who does not hold a PMP certification of their competence.
Conclusion
The report provides a general overview of the activities that are needed to be performed
by each of the team members while executing the chosen project of imparting training on a new
software. The proposed project is a small scale project. The project manager and the project team
has certain specific role to play in each stage of project life cycle. The report further outlines
effect of PMP certification on project manager and the team members.
