a. Explanation of project methodologies, tools and techniques and processes
These days the newly implemented Uber new driver app is one of the most user friendly
applications used by both the users and customer. The new driver app helps the drivers to earn in
smarter way based on real time information. The new app can collaborate, the drivers and
delivery partners all together. In addition to that, the drivers get timely alert regarding where the
drivers are required to keep driving and where to stop. In order to build the Uber new driver
mobile application different project management methodologies, tool, techniques and processes
had been sued by the project managers and project associates (Andersen, 2016). However before
using any of the project management methodologies project requirements, objectives and
customer expectations are needed to be analyzed accurately by the project associates. As per the
Project management Institute (PMI), methodology is defined as a set of prcatices, techniques and
procedures.
Different project management tools and techniques are also there those are used by the
project associates to implement any project successfully within estimated budget and timeframe
(Svejvig & Andersen, 2015). In order to accomplish any project within time and budget the tools
that are widely used include proper project selection method, project management approaches,
project implementation tools and techniques etc. Use of each of the managerial tools and
techniques are useful for project success. For breaking a large project in smaller part or to reduce
the level of complexity of any project Breakdown structure is the most essential tool that is used
by the project developers (Kerzner, 2018). Besides this, project tracking method is also a helpful
tool that helps the project team members to track the current status of the project. If it is

identified that a project is not running on correct track the respective changes are required to be
incorporated.
Apart from that, different project management processes are there sequentially followed
by the project associates to meet the project objectives. The phases those are to be followed to
accomplish any project include project initiation, planning, project execution, control and
validation and project closure and evaluation (Woo & Bales, 2017). Each of the project
development phases are interconnected to each other. Therefore, each of the phases is needed to
be followed respectively by the project team members while implementing and executing any
project. The project scope, risk management plan, quality criteria and delivery methods are
needed to be considered at the initiation phase before planning commencing the project. Theses
project management phases are connected to each other and must be followed with respect to the
project requirements. The project management team must have proper understanding on these
processes to govern any project towards expected aim and objectives.
b. Impact of theses prcatices on Uber New driver app success or failure
The new mobile app developed by Uber is very user friendly and effective as well. The
app is developed considering project management methodologies, tool techniques and processes
as well (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). The new app development process was initiated after
estimating the cost and timeframe as well. After analyzing the application and operation details
of the Uber app it is defined that Uber driver will be able to get effective commercial success
from this app.
Moreover, this app will give additional earning opportunities to the drivers. The progress
can be easily racked with this app. The drivers also get opportunities to select passengers as per

their choice (Page, Marabelli & Tarafdar, 2017). The drivers can also easily track the progress
towards the daily, weekly and monthly earning aim. With a single tap only the users would be
able to access the earning summary. The drivers can play their daily routine in a much easier
way. The location can also be easily traced through this app along with the roadmap route. In
between even if the connection lost then also then it will not negatively affect the complete
process. As a whole, it can be said, that the user can stay updated regarding all upcoming events
and coming earning opportunities as well (Kleiner, 2017). Above all theses it can be said that
how to use this app can also be learned by the users. The users also have opportunity to rate the
system. After analyzing the operational and functional activities of the new Uber app it can be
said that this app is successful.
2. Competencies of project team that impact in project success or failure of
the Uber app
a. Explanation of the understanding
From the provided case study it has been learned that, for implementing this new Uber
driver the project developers and project managers have used appropriate project management
processes, tools, techniques and procedures as well. I think that in order to maintain the quality
of the project potential project development methodologies are also followed accurately. After
analyzing the case scenario I have learned about the details application of Uber case scenario and
also the way through which the Uber drivers would be able to earn in a much easier way. I have
learned about the benefits of using different project management methodologies. I have learned
that the project management methodologies will help project stakeholders to adopt quickly new
application level challenges with a limited rate of investment for resources.

Moreover the project stakeholders would be able to govern the project towards running
success through accurate project management methodologies. In addition to that, I have also
learned that in order to build successful project management culture the stakeholders should
utilize proper methodology. I have also learned that, appropriate project management tools and
techniques can reduce rate of risks by increasing the chances for periodical success. I have also
learned that, motivation among the project team members would be increased through this
approach and amount of overall productivity in terms of services can be increased. If efficient
process is selected by project stakeholders while implementing any project then within estimated
time and budget more numbers of projects can be implemented successfully. I have also learned
that a well managed and well organized project activities will always help the project
stakeholders an shareholders to meet the project objectives within timeframe and budget,
b. Impact of the processes in project success or failure
I think that the project management processes, methodologies, tools and techniques have
positively impacted the project. The Uber new driver app has also been implemented followed
by all that project management rules and regulations including tools and techniques. I have
realized that in order to share the project objectives among the project team members the
complex structure has been reduced into smaller segments and for each of the segment different
resources are also being assigned. As soon as the resources are assigned to each activity it’s
become their responsibilities to accomplish that particular activity within the assigned time and
budget only.
I can say that, if huge variance is identified between the actual value and planned value
during the project progress period then respective changes then respective changes are needed to
be implemented by the project developers to meet the primary project objectives. I feel that, in

order to reduce the complexity of project selection of proper tools and techniques are much
essential. I feel that project selection method is the other most important technique which also
helps to lead any project towards success. The different project selection methods that are used
by the project associates include payback period, net return on investment, net present value,
internal return on return etc. based on the size, nature and type of the project the most suitable
project selection method is required to be taken by the project stakeholders. I think that before
implementing this new app the project managers and developers have followed theses aspects
successfully.
I feel that the app is much user friendly. I feel that after going online the users would be
able to accept a trip and deliver a request as per the demand of a client. This app makes the
deliver process easier and automatic as well. The Uber drivers can also earn from every trip.
From analyzing the functional and operational activities of the Uber app I can say that the
developed have implemented this app followed by the most suitable project management
methodology, project management tools and techniques and project processes as well. I feel that
this application is successful enough due to its reliability, scalability, operational excellence, and
security and user friendliness.
However, I think that the operation of the app can become much effective with periodic
change management approaches and continuous development. I think that continuous
development can improve the operational abilities of the app. I think that besides focusing on
Drivers earning the other perspectives are also needed to be followed by the project developers
during the continuous development time period. I think that, the project developers should
improve exiting review technique and other managerial perspectives as well. The project

developers should put more focus on other project management tools and techniques. I have also
realized that, this app can be updated more than the current one.
