Project management plan proposal
Overview
My telecom, which is an IT firm located in Melbourne is planning to set up VOIP services and
broadband services facility that will assist many homes and businesses in delivering internet
services. The plan is also to provide services to homes and business which are located in a
different geographical area including the areas that are away from Melbourne city. In order for
my telecom firm to locate the strategic place for their firm, they have to involve communication
firm's experts for the establishment of a good site for the firm1. The project supervisor in order
for the project to be fully implemented he has to form a team of 4-5 employees to work on the
project. In our discussion, we shall focus on what the company is needed to go about in order for
the project to be successful. We shall discuss the following; computer networks equipment
including the barriers to installations, systems, and equipment that is required, requirements and
infrastructure, transmission parts, environmental barriers, quality audits, budgetary requirements,
and compliance requirement.
Equipment and systems needs
In setting up broadband and VOIP services, the best place to start is to identify what user needs.
Broadband and VoIP users will require a phone for their functionality. Various providers will
offer virtual number services, which has the ability in forwarding calls to the user's phone. In
addition, the broadband services and VOIP services will establish a voicemail and number that
are alienated from the personal number2. In performing these users are fitted with many features

services to be delivered into many users in the different geographically area in Melbourne. Thus
installation barriers will hinder the delivering of VoIP services to the customers since the
network service needs to have many stations all over the city and outside the city so that it can
deliver the network to the users in their homes5.
Infrastructural requirements
Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) gives many users with the chances of making the phone call
by using the internet rather than using the traditional methods of the phone system. To achieve
this my telecom will use the communication devices to connect to the internet so that it can
connect voice patterns into more digital packets and send them to the phones through internet
routers. And in order for my telecom firm to achieve this in delivering these services to the
clients and their homes then VoIP and broadband software and hardware will be used to
implement the network. For VoIP and broadband services to be achieved then internet
connection is the crucial resources which will be required. In addition the void and broadband
need infrastructure which includes digital subscribers line access multiplexer(DSLAM), this
helps in transforming the voice signals into multiple sections to facilitates packaging of packets,
encoding and sending the signal to the overcrowded router so that it can reach many users in
Melbourne city and outside the city6. In my telecom firm, session initiation protocol (SIP) and
H.323 will be used to as digital language that will help in transferring VoIP messages from our
company to the user in the different geographical area in Melbourne. Broadband remote access
server (BRAS) will be used by my telecom firm to differentiate data traffic from the VOIP traffic

Transmission paths
A VoIP and broadband services at my telecom in order to be implemented it requires more than
6 cat cable to run the system properly. In particular, it requires cat5e or cat 6. The phones must
be in different places specifically 300 cable feet of the switch8. The data cable can be utilized for
IP telephony in the geographical location where there is no existing computer. If there are phones
that are located more than 300 feet away then the analog device must be used to give phone
service at the location or switch should be added.
Environmental barriers
Due to that implementation of broadband and VoIP services requires covering long distance then
it requires a lot of resources and at some point the implementation may be hindered by
environmental barriers which will include the long distance may not function well at the time
where there is bad weather thus internet services will not reach the users at Melbourne city. Also
where the location has barriers of valley and mountain it will be hard to network to be
transmitted to the users9.
Budgetary requirement
In order for my telecom company to implement its project so that it can reach many customers
all over the Melbourne city then they need to have set aside financial resource which will be used

in the firm for financing the project10. After putting aside this product it is very crucial for any
company, for now, the budgetary requirement for their company to succeed in their work. The
budge which my telecom project will cost $150,000 dollars this amount will be enabled to
provide the broadband and VoIP services to many homes at the all over the Melbourne city and
outside the city11. The budget also will assists in the completion of the project at the time and in
this case, the projects have been plan to take 12 months. Various teams and various stakeholders
will be involved for the success of the project and for the budge to be followed well. The budget
of the firm will be designed in a way that it will meet the needs of the project and many people
willfully benefit from the budget since it is very procedure and they will be able to get internet
services on time.
Quality audits
Quality audit is the systematic process for examination of the quality system and it is usually
carried out by external and internal auditors. The quality management will assist my telecom
company in the quality management system and it is a very crucial element in the ISO quality
system standard, ISO 900112. The quality audit will help the company in the following ways:
Evaluating policies, governance, and oversight relating to broadband and VoIP services.
Data management and classification policies
Solving the issues relating to the decentralization of VoIP servers13.

It helps in assessing the IT infrastructure and personnel to support the VoIP architecture.
Legislative barriers and compliance requirement
For my telecom company to start the company which will provide internet services to the users at
their homes must follow a certain legislative procedure before starting its operation. The
company should be a license so that it can provide services to the company as required by the
law14. Suggesting VoIP and broadband services for my telecom firm is very complicated. This is
because these companies provide crucial communication services to the customers and for this to
work well legal scrutiny is required15. In order to comply with legislation, the firm needs a hosted
voice systems that use the strong security and cryptography like TLS/SSL AND IPsec to protect
data during transmission to various users in the Melbourne city and all over the Melbourne city.
The firms should take note of security issues and compliance issues surrounding VOIP and
broadband services in the firm.
