Introduction
Project performance depends on the way an organization carries out its activities,
processes or methods. Most of the times an organization might have a wide range of
technology and strategies that are known for bringing about project success but if the project
performance is not up to the mark it would be useless to implement the strategies
(Kerzner2017). Besides this, the measurement of success is an important step that must be
undertaken in order to bring about success in the entire project. Suppose an organization has
planned in integrating various strategies that would help it in risk management, this process
includes various processesthat must be carried out one by one, in case the organization does
not measure the success of a particular activity or task (Todorović, Petrović and Mihić 2015).
In case this is not done, it would be difficult for the project to measure which process has
been successful and which needs to perform again. Hence the project performance as well as
success measurement are important aspects of the project.

Discussion
Inspite of having numerous systems and skilled professional, it has been difficult for
the employees of the Mawson zoo to carry out their activities in an effective manner.
Measuring of performance can be described as a specific activity or tasks that is carried out in
order to identify if it has ben adding any value to the goal of an organization or not (Noe,
Hollenbeck and Gerhart 2017). The performance measurement of employees is very
important for the zoo because the zoo consists of various departments, these departments are
responsible for doing different tasks within the zoo, for the purpose of its betterment
(Badewi2016). Suppose a team of some employees are responsible for collecting funds for
the maintenance of the zoo, another team is responsible for providing sufficient food and
medications to the animals, another team is responsible for carrying out various functions and
fun activities for the visitors’of the zoo especially the children. For these activities
performance activities are very essential. Suppose the zoo is arranging an event, in this case
they would require to manage logistics, contractors as well as various direct workers
(Carvalho, and Rabechini 2015). The main objective of the event would be the satisfaction of
the attendee by maintaining the budgeted price. Hence if performance measurement is not
carried out the budget might tend to increase and few activities might occur more than once
which would result in increase in the overall budget of the event. In order to achieve their
desired goal, they would require to check on every aspect of the event, such as verifying all
the materials that are being used (Carvalho, Patahand de Souza 2015). Contractors must be
communicated continuously and updates of their work should be recorded for further use.
Besides dealing with all this, the zoo must keep a track on its budget as well, scheduling and
comparison of various key performance metrics must be carried out in order to provide
direction as well as control and help them answer various questions like where are they? How
much have they spent? And are they over their planned budget? Ana many more

must be carried out as it is important in every project. The success of any project within the
zoo depends on sources of good projects performance
Project success measurement within the zoo is very important in order to keep track
on their progress in a particular project (Rezvani, Chang and Wiewiora 2016). This helps
them to keep a track on the amount of time that needs to be spent on a particular stage of a
project and they would be able to know the time that would be spent in evaluating after the
performance and the time that must be spent for moving forward for the project. The main
points that are important for evaluation includes schedule, cost, quality, performance and
stakeholder satisfaction against the business case (Kerzner2017). This could be done in an
informal way, a project evaluation would be used at the end of a particular project and it
provides a clear indication of the way the project has been performing against the planned
estimates. Success of a project is usually determined by the timeline that has been followed
by the particular project. It is generally hard but it can be carried out in an effective manner if
the project members evaluate the progress after every stage of the project (Noe, Hollenbeck
and Gerhart2017). This would help the zoo in detecting weather they are actually progressing
in the project. Suppose the zoo has planned to undergo a certain project and the entire project
has been divided into various stages and they have carried out all the stages one after another,
at the end of the project they have realized that the project has actually failed. This might be
the result of no or minimum performance measurement. Hence it can be said that the success
measurement can be carried out in an appropriate manner, is this would have been carried out
by the zoo in the presented scenario, it would have been easier for them to achieve success in
the project. Similarly some more aspects that must be considered as important in the project
success measurement include the quality of the project (Carvalhoand Rabechini Junior2015).
The end of the project phase is considered as the best time of the quality measurement. A

quality review is helpful in evaluating if the activities carried out by the organization
contributes in meeting the standards that are set in the quality plans. This should be found out
in the initial stages, before the project has not reached very far. Cost is also cindered as an
important aspect of the process of project success measurement. A project would be
considered as successful only if it has met its cost timeline and budget. In the case the budget
is not met and it exceeds beyond the expected line, it contributes in failure of a specific
project.

The stages implementation plan that could be carried out by the zoo is presented
above. In order to implement the stages various factors need to be considered. Some of them
include expectations as well as first opinions from the major stakeholders, the performance
and success management would contribute in affecting the company as a whole, the
management, owners as well as the employees (Carvalho, Patahand de Souza 2015). These
include the stakeholders in the overall process of stages implementation as well as utilization
of the performance and success. In case the stakeholders involved in the project, do not
accept the concept of stage implementation, there would be obstacle in the overall
implementation as well as utilization of the overall system. In this particular respect, the zoo
would require carrying out a plan for the purpose of stakeholder management; this would
cover the bases and hence keep the stakeholders informed as well as under control when the

phases of implementation are carried out. After the analysis has been carried out, the
organization must organize various meetings and workshops along with major stakeholders.
After having a proper plan, the stages would be carried out by preparing a particular draft of

well as representatives from board of directors along with the top management for seeing if
these ideas that have been proposed are precise or not. It would also present data regarding if
the expectations of the organization would be met.

Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that for Mawson Zoo it is very important to
carry out performance measurement and success measurement. For this purpose they must
choose measure for the purpose of decision making as well as insight alignment to the
objectives of the zoo is considered as a vital aspect. For carrying out performance
measurement in an effective manner, some points are to be given more importance including
the measure should be inherited from the goals of the organization, insight must be prepared
on how well the specified project has met the objectives. A detailed project planning is
carried out at the starting of the project’s planning phase, baseline of the plan must be saved
in order to compare actual with the planned. The zoo must realize the difference between
measurements of the performance of the team with the project. When the performance of the
team is measured, the impact of the performance of the team is also measured, the impact of
project on the organization’s goal at a particular period is also measured. Besides this,
success measurement help in measuring the progress of a particular project, this would also
help in carrying out a project in an effective manner. Success measurement help the
organization in keeping a track of their progress and plan their future steps or activities.
