1. Methodology and its role in project management
The theoretical & the systematic analysis of all the effective methods which are being applied or
implemented to the specific study or particular field are called as the methodology. It involves all
the related principles which are being associated with the effective & complete knowledge of the
branch. The effective methodologies restate the problem of research, effectively define the
collected data, develop the overall appropriate methodological approach and also provide the
favorable background for all the uncommon methods (Mir & Pinnington, 2014).
The concept of methodologies is being treated as the effective model by all the project managers
who apply & implements the different methodologies in order to plan, design, implement & also
achieve the defined objectives of the project. The methodologies of project management enable
all the business organizations to effectively tackle all the business projects in the systematic,
comprehensive & integrated manner in order to reduce the organizational risks. Multiple benefits
are being accessed by them at different levels of operational, strategic & tactical (Mir &
Pinnington, 2014).
2. Project methodologies and processes
Agile XP is the “light weight methodology” for all the teams of small & medium sized
developing software in accordance with the changing requirements. It was formed by “Kent
Back” in the year 1990to develop an effective mindset for all the customers & developers. All
the efforts of competing team are brought together to enhance the different practices according to
the prevailing situations.
The methodology of PRINCE2 was being set out to interlock different processes & also to
define the effective inputs & outputs during the multiple stages of the project. It involves the
complete set of products along with the essential resources (Taylan, et.al. 2014).
The incremental development process which is being used to leverage the unified modeling
language is called the unified process methodology. It is iterative in nature & helps in delivering
effective values to customers.

The waterfall methodology helps in identifying that particular method which evaluates the
software can be developed effectively. It helps in designing the program along with effective
analysis for all the requirements of software (Taylan, et.al. 2014).
The Agile Scrum is the light weight process which manages & controls the software along with
enhancing the process of product development in accordance with the changing business
requirements. It is the team-based approach used to maximize overall productivity.
Difference between Agile XP and Agile Scrum: The main difference among them is that the
agile scrum does not include the effective practices particularly for the programming, whereas
the agile XP involves the continuous integration along with the effective pair programming
(Joslin & Müller, 2015).
Similarities between Agile XP and Agile Scrum: Both the methodologies have their own
respective & unique qualities & they all possess the incorporate elements of “iterative
development”. They both enhance effective improvement & feedback continuously in order to
create & develop an effective application.
3. Methodologies relating to the project life cycle
The agile scrum is being designed to reduce the level of risks & to provide effective values to all
the customers. Following are the identified stages of the agile scrum which relates to the project
life cycle:
It creates the backlog of product which includes the list of developing tasks according to
different priorities.
It involves sprint planning to fix the limit of scope for the specific sprint.
It develops that effective software which works within the particular sprint to share up the
progress & to resolve all the problems being experienced by the teams.
It focuses on the testing & demonstration of the product in accordance with the owners’
& customers’ requirements (Joslin & Müller, 2015).
With the help of the effective plan, the relevant information is being shared & the
backlog is adjusted for the next sprint.

The agile XP focus more on the continuous improvement of the speed & the quality of the
software delivery. Following are the effective stages of project life cycle:
It set up the goals for the complete project & particular iterative cycles in accordance
with the vision of the particular project.
The effective developers of agile XP are responsible for designing the essential features
for the next iteration. This methodology emphasizes more on simplicity.
The developers re-factor the coding to make it simple during the complete process of
iteration. In the project of agile XP, “pair programming” is being used in order to boost
up the innovation & quality of the code (Davis, 2014).
Testing is done during the stage of development with the help of “Test Driven
Development (TDD)”.
