 Project methodology is an important aspect
of any organisation as it helps in managing
the various activities that are involved in a
project.
 Three project methodologies discussed are
PRINCE2, Agile and Waterfall.
 These methodologies use different factors
to get the project done but these factors
vary in each one.
Introduction

 PRINCE2 takes control of the project at each
stage.
 The needs of the client are defined clearly.
 The outcomes of each stage are examined.
 PRINCE2 is mostly used in the private
sector, like I.T companies because their
projects are large.
PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled
Environment)

Advantages
 Improvement is continuous
through experiences sharing.
 The projects are done is a
systematic manner.
 Role delegation is done on the
basis of skills required for the
project
 The project is monitored
regularly which leads to
increased control over the
project.
Disadvantages
 Low level of
flexibility in recent
management
projects.
 Time consuming.
 At every stage there
has to be records
prepared, can be
complex.
PRINCE2

 The main focus of this method is that its main focus is
on software development.
 It is classified into SCRUM and KANBAN
frameworks.
 Projects are done on a fixed time basis in SCRUM.
 Continuous progress of a project is done in KANBAN.
 Marketing agencies have adopted this method as it
shows more transparency than the other methods.
Agile

Advantages
 Issue are detected and
resolved much faster.
 Low costs as there are not
that many people working.
 Tasks are new and current so
only few resources are
required.
 Change is adapted faster.
Disadvantages
 Hard to measure progress
as more than one process is
involved.
 Unplanned work will result
in more workload.
 Short cycle resulting in not
good implementation of
designs.
Agile

 This method can be a linear style to
software development.
 Work is assigned and controlled through
various departments.
 It make sure that the whole team or
department is organised.
Waterfall

Advantages
 Structure is clear, well
defined and simple.
 Information is
communicated
efficiently and smoothly.
 Goals is kept in mind
throughout the process.
Disadvantages
 Change cannot be
implemented in a
good manner.
 Less or little attention
is given to the end
user.
 Testing is after the
completion.
Waterfall

Basis Agile Waterfall PRINCE2
Design Separated into
models.
Design process in
kept rigid.
Design process is
both rigid and
flexible.
Transparency Customer can look
at the product at
any stage to
change the
design.
When the project
is finished it can
be seen.
Is high as the
project is
communicated
throughout the
whole company.
Structure Unstructured as
changes are
frequently made
in the middle.
Every step is
planned making it
more protected.
Is a structured
process as focus is
on higher
management.
Issues Can be dealt with
as the product is
tested at each
stage.
Tested at end
stage so the issue
arise at the end,
the whole project
would need to be
started again.
Issues are dealt
with in the stage
and then the next
stage
commences.
Comparison

 It is seen that using the project methods an
organisation can achieve its goals.
 They help in developing the projects
structure so it can go according to the plan.
 These project methods are the ones which
will assist and give guidance to the project.
