Methodology is a process of theoretical and systematic analysis of applied methods.
It is a research strategy which provides the way to analysis the data information. It also
provides the way to analysis the research. Methodology use in many field studies to
research, it is also used by the project management to analysis the data for achieving their
goals and targets(Colquhoun et al., 2014). As per PMI board, methodology is a process of
rules and practices that is used by the employees and project manager of any organisation or
industry. The term methodology is essential for the project management because it provides
the way to analyse the strategies to achieve the goal and objective in any management
system. Project employees and managers use methodology just because it provides the
theoretical analysis of any research (Serrador, & Pinto, 2015).
Types
It has been evaluated that the different types of methodologies used by the project
management these are:
SDLC
PRINCE2
Waterfall
Agile

Waterfall methodology
Water methodology is also called liner life cycle model. This model follows a
sequent order to move in one way to achieve their goals. It is a simple methodology to
understand and use in which first stage is completed and the next can begin. It is used
for small project and where there are no other conditions is required. in the end of the
project , a feedback is taken from the employees to check the project process is right or
not (Turner, 2018).
Advantages
It used in small business.
It is a very simple model to understand and use.
It is easy to manage.
It helps to maintain the quality.
It maintains the standard of process.
Disadvantages

It is difficult to take the step back in the previous phase.
Development process is done when the testing method is began.

Agile methodology
Agile methodology refers to a group of software methodologies, which is based on
iterative development and where requirement and solution is, develop through the
collaboration between self-organising cross-functional teams (Baham, Hirschheim,
Calderon, & Kisekka, 2017). It can be said that it promotes the disciplined project
management process that encourage the inspection, adaption, and leadership, which
inspire the teamwork, self-organisation and accountability. It increases the interaction
between users, customers, employees, and managers. This methodology is used in many
project by the project management but it is a high level of methodology which is used in
big projects. Agile methodology involves many process all the process have unique
quality, it helps to segment a common vision and mission. Extreme programming, lean
development, DSDM, Scrum and FDD are the process that involves in Agile
methodology (Aguilar, & Zapata, 2017).

It helps to provide the customer satisfaction by continuously delivery of useful
software.
It helps to maintain the quality of development.
It increased project control.
It reduces the risk.
Disadvantages
It takes more time and commitment
It is a costly process more than other methods.
It is a useful process for the big projects not for small projects.

In Project Life Cycle
From the above analysis, it has been observe that the Water methodology is very
useful for the project life cycle. It promotes the development process in the project life
cycle. Waterfall methodology is flexible in nature means it can be change in each phase
of the project. It can be used in the small projects but agile methodology cannot used in
small projects (Bhatta, & Thite, 2018). The waterfall steps contain fewer steps to
complete the project such as requirements, testing, system designing, and development
of system and maintenance. Waterfall is essential for the project life cycle.
