Introduction
The aim of the project proposal is to encourage nursing students of California to pursue
higher education. The proposal has explained the purpose of its need. Further, it has explained its
benefits to the nations and health care sector. The project has given justification of the cost and
budget and ways bye which project can be evaluated.
Purpose of the Project
The health sector are facing inadequate number of nurse with efficient skill and
knowledge (Slatyer et al., 2016). There are report stating many of the nursing staff are so
overloaded with their work, that they do not pay heed in pursuing higher education (Silva-Santos
et al., 2018). With aging population, number of patients are increasing which causes increase in
workload. Expanding the capacity to produce more number of nurse is the not the solution. There
in the need to make them skilled and maintain competency of the nursing professional (Slatyer et
al., 2016). Therefore. The main purpose of the project is to encourage the nurse in California of
Downey community hospital, Los Angeles to pursue higher education. To make the nurse
capable to meet the health care need of the United States, it require a comprehensive recognition
of higher education, its motive and its approaches. For the future of health care sector and its
system in California, requires professional and skill nurse who are highly educated and capable
enough to practice in the their variety of role like policy development, research, care and
teaching (O’Nea, Zomorodi & Wagner, 2015).
The Target Population or Audience
To prepare a community which includes the professional identity, the target population
will be nurse of Downey community hospital, Los Angeles who are practicing and nursing

students who are pursuing their graduate degree. These population are the future of health care
sector who needs encouragement to pursue their education through baccalaureate degree and
above.
Benefit of the Project
With the implementation of the project will be able to address the interlocking issues faced in
nursing education: supply, access and competency. The project will help in creating an
environment where the nurse would be able to pursue higher education. Through encouraging
they will make them highly skilled and professional. It is noted that nurse and nursing student are
the backbone of the health sector, making them highly educated will make them able to give
quality care to the patients. In turn it will improve the shortcoming and limitation of health sector
of United States. In United States, as per 2018 statistic number of cardiovascular and diabetic
patients has increased from 45.8 % in 2010 to 56.9 % in 2018 due to inadequate care
(Mozaffarian et al., 2016). Mortality rate has been increase to 34.6 % in 2017 (Kochanek,
Murphy, Xu & Arias, 2017). It is evident from the literature review that major reason behind
such issues are lack of skilled nurse who are not able to provide quality care to the patient. Thus,
through encouraging them to pursue higher education, will make them competent enough that
they can handle issues of patients efficiently.
Further, it can be added by saying that many nurse wished to pursue higher education
however, due to huge work load they give up their dream. Thus, with implementation of the
project they would be capable to fulfill their dreams and can develop skill and become
professional by pursuing higher education.

This project is going to benefit the economy and health sector of California. With making
quality nursing force, number of patients and their long stay in hospital will get improve and the
health sector of United States will be heading towards success.
Cost and Budget Justification
For implementation of project of encouraging nursing student to pursue higher education
will require following things:

 A hall or auditorium for gathering the nurse from different region of United States.
 Computers
 Projectors
 Media for spreading awareness about the program
 Skilled nurses from other place.

Evaluation of the Project
The project is intended to provide a structural framework for the nursing students which
will help in comprehensive transformation of them. A comprehensive approach can be evaluated
through dialogue and communication with the stakeholder and the target audience of the project.
For better evaluation, a survey analyses will be conducted which will include question related to
presentation given, whose outcome gives idea about the success of the project (Agyapong et al.,
2016).
Conclusion
The members participating in the project share common motive of encouraging nurse of
Downey community hospital, Los Angeles USA, to pursue higher education so that they can

deliver quality health care to the patients. To make a healthiest nations, there is the need to make
the strong nursing workforce which can be achieve with the equipping them with tools to
manage the health care complexities. It can be accomplished by the making them competent
through encouraging to pursue higher education. Therefore, project approval will benefit the
whole nation.
