Reflective Journal
Describe
The most important thing that I learned in the week 6 is the PERT analysis. This
lecture provided me a real life concept regarding the PERT analysis. Apart from the notes I
read many journals regarding the PERT analysis (Akpan & Agadaga 2020). I have learned
this topic from a guest lecturer. The most important point that I learned in this PERT analysis
was the probability concept in PERT. It was a most interesting because in PERT, the time
duration of a particular activity is a random variable with a huge amount of variances. I have
learned three estimates of activity’s duration. It helped me gain a vast knowledge regarding
the optimistic duration and pessimistic time of PERT. From this lecture, I came to know
regarding the problem with PERT, estimated project duration and Z value (Ba'Its, Puspita &
Bay 2020). The lecturer pointed out all the topics of the PERT. No students asked the lecturer
for providing a detailed description regarding the PERT analysis.
Interpret
This lecture helps me to increase the strength of using the PERT analysis (Nouban,
Alijl & Tawalbeh 2020). Asking questions and clearing the doubts regarding this topic helps
the lecturer to understand whether a student is getting the topic or not.
Evaluate
Main advantage of this lecture is that the teacher allows us to ask questions regarding
the PERT analysis. It helps me clear many doubts regarding the PERT analysis. Previously, I
thought that PERT analysis was a very difficult topic (Onifade & Oroye 2020). However,
after attending the lectures, I feel that it is not so much difficult. However, we would ask
much questions to the teachers that I expected we should. Knowing the importance of

questioning to achieve the object of clarification is important for me to enhance my
confidence in the field of project management.
Plan
I believe that this topic will be very useful for me while conducting a project in near
future. It will give me an edge when I shall work in any real life projects in my professional
career. I shall use the PERT Chart analysis to check whether the project can be finished within
the assigned deadline. It helps me to understand the objective dimensions and any subjective
aspects of this topic. In this PERT Chart analysis, I have learned optimistic duration and
pessimistic time, which I am able to apply in any future projects. However, I am unsure
whether any tool is available for calculating the probability of the PERT chart. I would like to
know more about the implementation of the PERT Chart and drawbacks of the PERT Chart. It
helps me to understand what the disadvantages of PERT Chart are (Akpan & Agadaga 2020).
I find one issue in this PERT Chart that it gives unreliable data for a project for cost or time.
In my practice, I shall use questioning methods for clarifying the objectives of using the
PERT analysis in project management. In my career, I shall raise questions to my own
thoughts regarding the PERT analysis and try to resolve those one.
