Title: Project Plan to build new Coffee Shop
Purpose
The main purpose of carrying out the project is to build new coffee shop in Sydney. The
coffee shop wants to provide the customers with great quality of coffee as well as tea. The
location that is to be chosen for building the coffee shop is to be in a good location so that the
customers can find the location easily. This project will develop a detailed building plan of the
coffee shop including the project plan as Gantt chart, work breakdown structure, critical path for
completing the project, the project network, and the risks that are associated with developing the
project.
Background
The coffee shop decided in the project is to be built in Sydney area is to be built within
the project plan that is developed for the project. The coffee shop will serve their customers with
tea as well as coffee along with some confectioners that would greatly accompany tea or coffee.
The location that is to be chosen for building the new coffee shop is to be built in good location
that is on the road side so that the customers will get to know about the coffee show easily. The
customer should not find any difficulty to locate the coffee shop and environment of the location
chosen should also be good for the customers to come any time and can sit and have tea or coffee
relaxing and gossiping.
Eliciting Requirements
The eliciting requirement that will be used for gathering the requirements for building up
this coffee shop are:

Focus group: This requirement gathering helps to focus on groups of people consisting
the stakeholders and the partners associated with the project. All the stakeholders gathers in a
meeting to discuss the functionalities of the project and deliverables they need from the project.
This helps the developers to get all the requirement for the project in one meeting itself.
Brainstorming: Brainstorming session can also be organized with the stakeholders so that
they can get more new ideas that can improve the building process of the new coffee shop. Each
stakeholder needs to come up with some ideas that are required for developing the project.
Client Requirements
The requirement of the client is to develop a coffee shop in a prime location of Sydney so
that they it can attract customers and can provide a good environment of café to its customers.
The client also want to add confectionaries in the café so that the customers can have some
savouries with tea or coffee.
Scope
The scope of this report is developing project plan that would satisfy the need of the
building anew coffee shop in the main location of Sydney. This project will deliver a detailed
project plan for building the coffee shop along with project network associated with the project.
This project also will deliver work breakdown structure for building the coffee shop.
It can be assumed that if the project cost overrun, the project will still be accepted but for
approval of extra fund, the sponsors should let to know it minimum a week ago. The scheduling
should be followed for building up new coffee shop.

As the project that is to be done includes new project plan development for building a
new coffee shop on the roadside in Sydney area, many research are to be carried out to
successfully complete the project. For developing project plan of building new coffee shop, there
is a need to study the project management methodologies that are needed for completing the
project. For developing the project, project management materials as well as project management
methods are also to be involved which are needed to research and analyzed so that it can be
implemented in project development. Many literatures say that project network diagram, the
work break down structures and the project plan can be done conveniently using the MS project
and all the material and the methods that are used in this project are discussed below.
Materials and Methods
For the project plan, the project managers has to take the help of project management
materials and project management tools to explain the project and do as per the planning
(Brewer, & Dittman, 2018). The methods and tools that will be used for this project is explained
below.
MS project
This is a project management software that will be used in this project to develop the
project schedule for building up the coffee shop. The project schedule plan is developed using
the MS Project and this MS project helps to create a critical path for the project. The resources
are also being defined with the project schedule plan.
Work Breakdown Structure
The WBS is used in this project as because it helps to manage the project more
efficiently. A particular is characteristics by the activities that have limited time and those

activities are fixed with fixed time frame as well as cost of the project is also defined. The WBS
helps to create a measurable as well as includes independent tasks in them.
Project network
For managing the time of the project and to sequence the activities, the network diagram
plays an important role in handling the project (Kerzner, 2017). Network diagram states
visualizing the activities of project in the boxes that includes id of the activities and helps to
define a relationship with other activities in the project.
Schedule
The scheduling of the project always plays an important role is completing the project.
To successfully complete the project, project scheduling plays an important role (Basu, 2017).
The project scheduling helps to keep the project on track and helps to set realistic time frame for
the project. The project schedule also assign the resources in the project and also helps to
manage the project quality.
Critical Path Method
The CPM helps to estimate the duration of the tasks and helps to track down the tasks
(Harrison, and Lock, 2017). All the important tasks identified using the CPM method and it is
ensured that the project does not lags behind the project schedule time.
Techniques of resource optimization
The techniques of resource optimization are the tools that helps to adjust implementation
as well as helps to complete the scheduled dates of the project activities. In resource
optimization, resource labelling is done, along with resource smoothing.

The WBS for building the coffee shop is shown in the Appendix 1. The work breakdown
structure shows five phases of project plan that are shown as diagram. The phases that are shown
in Appendix 1 shows were decided based on the requirement of the client and five phases of
project management methodologies are defined in the WBS. The WBS created in this report
shows the resource allocation in the project. The phases includes are:

Project Network
The project network for this project plan is shown in Appendix 2. The network diagram
in the below section shows the planning phase, scheduling phase as well as the monitoring phase
that is explained in the system. The network diagram below shows the diagrammatic format of
the tasks sequence, as well as states the interrelationship as well as the dependencies that are
included in the activities of the project.
The network diagram is automatically generated from the MS project and is developed
with all the tasks that were included in developing the project schedule (Cleden, 2017). The
project schedule shows the early start and early finish of all the activities that are included in the
project plan.

4. The project schedule shows WBS code, the tasks name, the duration of all the tasks, the
starting date, the project ending date, and the predecessors of project (Marcella, & Rowley,
2015). The schedule of the project is divided in to five phases and all the phases included
different sub-activities that are prepared for project completion. For developing the project
