Approach and techniques
Estimated approach – It is important to find out and select estimated approach for taking of this
project. this is because it helps in systematic working in project so that goals are achieved in
effective manner. However, there are various approaches in it. for this project PRINCE 2 method
will be used. it is common approach that is used in project. the main feature of this is it there are
7 principles on basis of which it works. these allow manager to focus on smooth function of
project and completing it in efficient way. moreover, in this proper planning is done which
allows in proceeding in effective way. here, project activities are broken down in several stages
that makes it easy for manager to go through in step by step manner (Chaudhry, Srivastava, and
Joshi, 2020).

Resource scheduling problem
It is necessary to resolve the scheduling problem so that project is completed on time.
Also, critical path must be identified so that activities are started and finished on time. This
enable in proceeding in systematic way. Besides that, resources are allocated in effective way
according to schedule.
Strategies for reducing project duration
There are several strategies which will be followed for reducing duration of project. they
are as follows
Communication : This is a vital priority of company in which they will focus on doing effective
communication between internal and external stakeholders who are associated with project. this
will help in facilitating sharing of data and info with them. the stakeholders are suppliers, project
manager etc.
Constant monitoring and controlling- In order to ensure that there is minimum variation ,
Woolworths Group project manager effectively assure evaluation and determination of daily
basis activities of project in order to accomplish project goals in specified budget (Lin,. and
Huang, 2020).
Meetings- Meetings are considered to be the essential priorities for project in which project
manager decides to conduct meetings at regular interval of time in order to effectively supervise
the activities that are carried out by different personals. In addition to this it has been identified

that timely meetings all subject take place in order to develop future strategies through which
project objectives can be effectively achieved.
Total Quality Management- This is another priority of Woolworths Group project plan this
methodology has been undertaken into account by project manager to effectively ensure
accomplishments of project as per the compliance and set standards.
Risk management plan
There are some risk will affect the project management, one of them is cost of the project.
The cost of making the project is very high because it needs to spend money on the equipment,
researches and implementation of the project and the scope of the project management is cheap
and the another risk in the project management is the project failure – To conduct any kind of
researches take times and hard word. It can be fail if the manager of the project do any single
mistake in their project (Olechowski and et.al., 2016). It can spoil their whole and work and their
researches which has been done by the researcher. The project managers should understand the
both risk so they can be aware about the risk in the project management. Risk can be identified
through the proper research and knowledge about the project management work. It is necessary
to find out risk which can occur in project. this is because these risks can highly impact on
overall project scope and its completion. However, finding of those risks enable in preparing of
effective measures and action in order to mitigate its impact. besides that, project manager gets
insight about what type of risk can occur so that measures are taken accordingly. Similarly, in
this project there are certain risk which can occur. they are identified as below :

Recommendations for project success
Cause of project success or failure
It is essential for project manager to successfully complete project and attain goals and
objectives. but there are some chances as well of project failure. these can occur due to several
causes which can arise into it. So, manager needs to identify those causes so that project success
or failure is analysed. thus, the causes are defined as below :
Poor planning – this is major cause which can lead to failure. if planning is done in poor way
than it results in failure. however, overall success is dependent on planning as it provide a
direction of how tasks are to be done. when planning is inadequate there is no focus on it (Zhang,
Yang, and Chen, 2020).
Bad leadership – it is also a cause where project manager is not able to guide or lead team
members. he does not direct them in right way. it leads to incompletion of activity. the members
do not get proper support from manager. hence it highly impact on project.
inaccurate budget- here, if budget is not prepared properly then it leads to rise in cost. along with
it, there is lack of resources in carrying out tasks. so, it becomes highly complex for manager to
maintain budget and finish project in given time.
Lack of communication- it is cause which can result in failure. when there is no proper
communication it is difficult to identify who will do what and when. also, data and info is not
shared in time and it leads to delay in tasks. besides that, there is no transparency maintained into
it and further planning done in inaccurate (Dixit, and Tiwari, 2020).
From the above analysis it is clear that Woolworths group to expand its manufacturing unit in
England but for this expansion it is very essential for company to have proper control and
monitoring of all the activities. Thus, for improving the expansion of the business some of the
recommendation are being provided to the company in following manner-
Project communication- this is also an important measure for Woolworths to successfully
implement the project in actual. The communication is referred to as the sharing and exchanging
of the information and fact and figures from one person to another. If the communication is not
clear and understandable then the employees will not be clear that what work, they have to do.
Thus, this will create problem in the successful expansion of project of opening a manufacturing
unit in England as the employees will not know clearly that what work they have to do. Hence,
11
Document Page
for the success of the project the only important thing is the clear and understandable sharing of
information to the employees from the top management.
Hence, for this it is recommended to Woolworths that they must go for the combination of
both verbal and written communication method. The major reason underlying this fact is that
when the written communication is being used then both the employees and the management will
have the proof that which work is being allotted to which person. Also, if the communication and
allotment of roles and responsibilities will be allotted in written form then the employees and
management can refer it back in future if there is need. This is majorly due to the reason that
when the written communication is done then all the regulations and instructions are in writing
and this assist both management and employees to check in future if any need is there. Also, in
addition to this the verbal communication will be helpful in implementing the project in
successful manner (Tonchia 2018). This is majorly because of the fact that sometimes the written
message is not clear and in that case the company can make use of the verbal communication.
This is helpful as now the manager will speak to the employees and verbal messages are clear
and attract that attention of person.
Performance monitoring- this is the most important tool for ensuring the successful
implementation of project plan. Under this method Woolworths will be able to make sure that all
the planned activities are taking place in the same manner as it was planned (Jagacinski and
Flach, 2018). Measuring the performance in essential for the success of project as if this will not
be there then the work will not take place in intended manner. This is essential because of the
reason that if the performance of the employees of the project and the company is not good then
the expansion project will not be implemented in good and effective manner. Thus, for this it is
very essential for Woolworths to time to time analyse and monitor the performance of the
expansion plan. Thus, for this the best suited method which is recommended to Woolworths is
the setting up of standard of working.
This is a technique in which the company will first set some standards that at least this
much work must be completed till a specified time. This setting of standard is essential because
of the fact that this will give a guidance to the employees that in which direction they have to
work. Also, this standard will make sure that the employees are working as per the required
quality of work only. Also, these standards will help the management of the project of expansion
to compare the performance of the employees that whether they are working in accordance with
12
Document Page
the set standards or not. This is essential because of the fact that these standards help the
manager in controlling the performance of the employees as the manager know what the worker
has to do and if they do not work according to that then corrective actions can be taken against
the employees.
Hence, in the end it can be said that for the project of expansion of manufacturing unit in
England by Woolworths the tool used for successfully implementing the whole project are
proper communication and proper use of the different performance monitoring and evaluation
technique. Both these techniques will help the company in successfully implementing the project
with help of analysing all the changes taking place in the environment and then apply it to the
implementation of the project.
CONCLUSION
From report it is concluded that a project is undertaken of a project to construct a new
manufacturing unit in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. The purpose is to expand and operate in
UK. there are many priorities in project such as communication, high ROI, etc. on basis of which
project is taken. It has been analyzed the major risk in the project management such as
insufficient resources, delay in tasks, etc. and how this project can be helpful to accomplish
project objectives their goals. It also has been included the risk find out by another students.

leadership, etc. Another phase of this project has been discussed project information and it has
been included purpose objectives scope etc. It also has been analyzed project management plan
and analysis. In the end of this report will provide recommendation.
