PROJECT TITLE:
Development of Cloud Based Database for Database for a University
BACKGROUND AND CURRENT PRACTICE (1/2 page)
In ABC University, the current data management practice is done manually and
stored in the physical storage device i.e. the hard disks of the central systems.
The hard drives are used for storing various data including personal information
of the faculties, students, question papers, grades, course modules, syllabuses
and others. All these data and information are entered into the system manually
and as a result, numerous manual errors occur. Hence, the some of the data
stored in the system may be inaccurate or erroneous. The new cloud based
database system will be able to replace the manual process as it is much more
efficient for data management operations. Moreover, it will provide much more
storage space than physical hard drives and furthermore will save the need for
physical space as all the data will be stored in virtual storage interface. In
addition, it will also provide more accessibility options unlike the physical drives
that can only accessed by one particular system only.
PROJECT AIMS/OBJECTIVES:
The SMART objectives of the project are as follows.
Specific – The specific area to be improved through this project is the manual
data entry and physical storage in order to replace it with cloud based database
with much more efficient data management.
Measurable – The indicator of the progress of this project can be measured by
the increased efficiency and decreased response time from the system.
Achievable – It is expected that a new efficient data management system is to
be achieved through this project.
Realistic – The project should be conducted within realistic budget and
timeline.
Timely – The expected result is to be achieved within a month of completion of
the project.
