Among the various aspects of managing a project, ensuring its quality is of the major
importance. A project quality is ensured by validating its requirements by continuously
analyzing the quality of the products depending on the quality standard that is established at
the beginning of the project planning (Fields et al., 2014). Several activities are included
while assuring the quality of a project. In meeting the expectation of the trade this method
needs to be followed accordingly with proper care and monitoring. The following report is
developed to focus on the quality issues that are faced while managing a project and based on
the identified issues certain tools and techniques are also reflected in the report.
Project case study:
The Deep Water Horizon Disaster that took place in the year 2010 was the greatest
example of quality management failure. It is recorded as one of the most catastrophic quality
failure that is experienced by any project (Starbird et al., 2015). The oil spill disaster is also
commonly known as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The Deep Water Horizon was owned by a
well-known offshore oil drilling corporation and was rented by the BP oil company. The oil
well was positioned over the sea bed covering an area of about 4,993 feet below the surface.
The disaster took place on the night of 20th April when a heave of natural gas detonated
through the concrete surface that was connected by the contractor named Halliburton for a
determination of sealing the well so that it can be used later.
