Introduction
A brief description of the case study
From the scenario given in the case study, there is a client that needs an air conditioning system
for a building of 3 floors and the client is not accepting any design that needs too much
investment in the up-front and due to the installation of the low-cost system, various problems
were faced by the client and contractor.
Motivation
From this case scenario, the main aim is to learn the concepts of Project quality and project
risk management. This case scenario will be used in order to learn about the management of the
quality and risk related to the project (Tamara, et al. (2008).
Ultimate goal
The goal of this assignment is to learn the concepts of risk and quality management and also to
find the solution to the problems of the case scenario using these concepts.
General plan
In order to achieve the goal of learning as mentioned above, the plan to achieve this objective is
to study all the concepts and to implement the studies in finding the solution to the problem of
case scenario (Chapman, & Ward, (2003).

Problem
From the study of the case scenario, the following is the problem description:
According to the case study, the client needs an air conditioning system that can cool a building
consisting of three floors. The contractor hired for the project have designed many designs
appropriate for the building and client requirement but the client refuses it every time due to the
high cost of quality products and services. This caused an expense of $30,000 which was not
paid by the client and was sorted by the contractor.

Research methods
The method of research that was used for completing the assessment is the case study research
method. In this method of the research, the case of the problem or the scenario of the issue is
studied deeply in order to understand the area of problem and find the solution to the problem.
For researching the case scenario here and to find the solution to the problem using the concepts
of the management of quality and risk of the project, the method was simple. The case scenario
was studied in detail and the whole case was analyzed to produce the problems, solution and
conceptual implementation area (Taylor, & Thomas-Gregory, 2015).

Data collection
The collection of data is done in order to use the data to produce the information and analyses the
information to deduce the results. The collected data will be processed and analyzed to produce
the conceptual results. For the given scenario, the data collection method used is the observation
method of the data collection. For this method, the case scenario and the related happening like
the rupture of the pipeline and others were observed and the amount spent on them was also
observed, from the observations several facts and information was collected and this was used in
order to produce the results for the case study research method. These methods were again
studied to produce a better plan of the management of the quality and risk in the given case
study.

Data analysis
The data analysis will be done in order to obtain the results for the better management of the
project quality and cost (Anon, 1997). The following was the data that was collected from the
case study research:
S.No. Observation
1. The project selected by the client was cheap in investment.
2. The pipes were ruptured 3 times in one year.
3. The expense of repairing the pipes one time was $10,000.
4. The client claimed that the amount should be paid by the contractor as a part
of the warranty.
5. The claim was settled by the contractor to resolve the issue.

Results
From the data that was collected above and the analysis of the collected data, the following are
the results of the research and data analysis:
For the client side, the cost of the project is important than quality.
The project quality should be maintained otherwise the expense of maintenance is increased.
Low-cost project plan affects the quality of the project.
All parts of the contract should be legally formatted.
The claim settlement by the contractor is the maintenance if the quality of the brand image in
the market.
The risk related to the project should be analyzed at the start, to avoid the high maintenance
cost (Anon, 2017).

Recommendations
From the results of the data analysis and the collusions of the research, the following are the
recommendations for the management of the project quality and risk:
To maintain project quality, the requirements and their respective cost should be framed and
discussed.
Also, in order to maintain the quality of service, the important terms and the deliverable of
the project should be mentioned in the contract.
The management of the project risk is done by making an effective plan for the risk
associated with the project.
The client needs to understand that the project quality maintenance is a cost-consuming
process.
For resolving the issue mentioned in the case study, the client needs to understand that the
required specifications cannot be provided in cheap terms.
The contractor needs to understand the client demands and needs and design the project
accordingly.

Conclusion
In the report presented here, the case study was utilized in order to learn the concepts of the
Project scope and cost management. Forgetting a better understatement of the topic, the case
study research was and the data was collected using the observation method. From the collected
data the conclusion was drawn using the data analysis approach and using those results of the
data analysis the better ways to manage the project risk and quality was recommended.
