Introduction: -
In this report, we will be discussing the scope management of the project and the process
involved in the management of scope of the project as discussed by the author. the scope
management is described as the collection of all the processes that ensure that the work which
is required must be included and the work that is unnecessary must be excluded for the
effective project scope. The plan for scope management will show how the scope of project
will be developed, verified and defined.

Project management: -
According to the author project management is the practice of planning, initiating,
controlling, closing and executing of the work in a team for achieving a goal that is specific
and is meeting the criteria of success in a specified time constraint.
IT project Scope management: -
According to the author. Scope of the project refers to the set of details of the features of the
project. the deliverables and then derived from the requirements of the project. it defines the
scope of the project as the work that needs to deliver a product, result, and service with the
specified function and feature. There are mainly three scope management project processes
which are planning, closing and controlling.
a) Planning: -The process planning is an attempt that is made for capturing and defining
the need for work that is to be done.
b) Controlling: -The monitoring and controlling of the processes which focus on the
tracking of a document, creep scope, approving/disapproving and tracking of the
project changes.
c) Closing: -The process that is final which include the closing of an audit of a project
which delivers an assessment of the original plan’s outcome (Yana, 2018).
The statement of scope: -
The scope of the project is identified clearly of work which is required for completing or
delivering the project successfully. The manager of the project has responsibilities for
ensuring the work needed to be performed and each of the deliverables is completed in the
given time and under the budget.
The scope documentation of the project is explaining the project boundaries which
establishes each member’s responsibilities and setting up the procedures of work completion
and is verified and approved. This type of document is referred to as the statement of scope,
the work statement or the reference terms (Watt, 2014).

Involvement of steps in scope management of the project: -
Author suggests that as the manager of the project, there is a need to define the scope of
project irrespective of what methodology is to be chosen for using it in the project. there are
few examples of a systematic process for defining, monitoring scope and capturing.
1) The project needs: -The definition of project need is the first step towards the
establishment of the timeline of the project, project resource allocation, setting goals
of the project. there three steps which are defined and will be able to make you
understand the need for work that needs to be done. Describing in other words, the
project scope is needed to be defined and once it is done then the team will be
provided with tasks which provides delivery directions of the project in the provided
budget and time.
2) Project objective: -For defining the scope of the project there is a need to establish the
project objective which includes creating the new service and new product within the
organization and develop a price of new software. There are many objectives that are
a project’s center. The manager of the project ensures that the project team delivers
the result according to the mentioned features and functions.
3) Project scope: -the work and the resource which goes in the creation of a service or
product and essentially define the project scope. It is generally an outline of goals that
are net to achieve the results that are satisfactory.
Steps involved in defining the scope of the project: -
1) The objective of the project
2) Goals of the project
3) Sub phases of the project
4) Tasks in the project
5) Resources for the project
6) The budget of the project
7) Scheduled project

Planning of project scope management: -
According to the author, planning for the management of the project should be the first step
in the process of project management. In the guide PMBOK, it was mentioned that there are

several processes that separate the initial activities of planning with the other activities. This
helps in creating a plan for scope management. It describes the documents and project scope
and how will it be defined further, controlled and validated.
The planning for the scope management covers the definition of scope, its validation, and
control. It includes prevention of information and dealing with the creep of scope, request
handling, a path of escalation for disagreeing on the element scope in between the
stakeholders, the creation process for the settlement of scope, The WBS, and how the
acceptance of any deliverables will be done (Chaharsooghi & Hasani, 2013).
Tips for the management of project scope: -
The author says that whenever the scope management processes are performed, the project
managers just bump into the issues in a long way. The problems arise while documenting and
defining the scope of the project. some of the common issues that perform the management of
scope which leads to the problems after the project begins. Reviewing the scope management
documents are recommended below as per the author.
1) Incomplete Definition: -The incomplete scope will lead to the scheduling of slips that
leads to overrunning of cost. For avoiding this, the scope must need to be accurate and
complete.
2) Ambiguity: -Ambiguity in the scope leads to the creation of unnecessary confusion
and work. for avoiding this the scope must need to be very clear in defining the point.
3) Uncollaborative scope: -A non-collaborative scope can cause design and requirements
misinterpretation and in order to avoid this, the document scope should be shared with
all the stakeholders at each and every step of defining the scope step.
4) Transience: -Scope of transient may lead to scope creep. The basic cause of delivering
late and never-ending projects. For avoiding this, the document scope needs to be
finalized and keep unaltered for the project duration.
