Introduction
SingularLogic is an Organisation established in 1984 which provide software and
integrate IT solution to other organisation and mostly established in Greece. The organisation
mostly operate in Greece providing business software services and business software
licensing annotating a lead market position since the year 1990. Ever since the organisation is
also providing solutions to private and public sectors all around Bulgaria and Romania.
However the business has several divisions that provides insights about the market segments
that the organisation has to serve. Among these divisions are the enterprise division, which
focuses on design and implementation of integrated IT Solution mostly working for large
enterprises in private sectors (Kihuga, 2018). There is another department called software
direction that mostly focuses on the distribution and development of business software
application and there is a division called integrator division which mostly focuses on
providing implementation and design of the integrated IT solutions in public sector
organisations. Just like any other organisation that would require project selection method
and initial documentation procedure, this organisation is also looking forward to adding
benefits by selecting a new project with the help of the research and development team (Han
et al., 2019). Now, the decision taken by the research and development team and the different
divisions within the organisation and resources involved would be analysed critically to find
out if the project selection method according to the research and development team is
justified or that can be other recommendations presented to conduct a project selection
method. Finally, there would be an appropriate description of the process group as well as the
project documents that would be created for taking inputs about a new project.

Carefully identify and justify suitable project selection methods to the given project
Out of the 740 skilled professionals that are currently working at SingularLogic 300
certified it consultants and 140 of them are top class developers. Overall 60 staff are currently
working in research and development and these processes are typically governed by
incremental improvements (Ahmad, 2016). This is the phase where the research and
development team decides to work on applying research procedures to the market launches so
that we can compare SingularLogic and their products and services to the other competitive
products and services in the market. On the basis of this they provide the ideas to either
upgrade the progress of manufacturing the products or preparing the services or innovate the
ways of presenting them and manufacturing them to the customers. For this procedure the
organisation is using up a lot of resources over the research and development team (Kurt,
2017). The team has also presented the idea of a lead time variable which it is differentiated
by a time span of 4 months to 3 years.
Research and development team are currently working at several departments in the
organisation that help in innovating the products and services by comparing the work in
progress with other organisations in the market. Based on that there delivering ideas on how
to select a project and make it work for communicating within the organisation.
Critically discuss the processes to conduct the above project selection methods
Critically analysing the project selection method by the research and development
team, it can be said that as per the report, there are several bottlenecks that are already
forming within the organisation due to the research and development work continued by the
23 full time staff. The other members are either University research Scholars or external part
time workers (Onalaja, Cheung & Samwinga, 2018). This is why a proper gathering of
research information is not being able to be formulated. There are several identified
bottlenecks in the research and development department which is either related to the entire

business or the delivery channels. The budget that is invested on the research and
development team is too much for the organisation to wear at this point of time when new
project selection is also made to be part of the process.
The first point that the research and development team does not follow if the project
selection methods initiated in the Project Management Book of Knowledge or PMBOK. It
clearly specified that before selecting a new project every project manager and the research
team should considered several aspect of constant optimisation methods with the utilisation
of qualitative and quantitative data (Project Management Institute, 2016).
The first point that should be included in this project selection method is the
measurement of benefits. It is the foremost rule in every organisation before selecting a new
project. This is done by analysing the resources of an organisation and the other important
aspects like financial Returns from the project that is being aimed at. The ratio of cost to
benefit should be also included, which would ideally be more than 1 for maximum benefit
(Project Management Institute, 2017). The higher the ratio of cost benefit, the more
opportunity would be offered to the organisation. The return on investment should also be
clarified in this particular case by the research and development team (Morton, Keisler &
Salo, 2016). This should ideally provide the insights to SingularLogic, to analyse how much
investment they are making and in what time the investment would be recovered from the
market. The time required for the organisation to recover their investment from the market
would begin the gathering of profit. This is the state where the organisation would add value
with the project selection and opportunity in the market. That for the project selection method
should always include this particular method to make sure that the organisation is ahead
about using a proper project and think about its constant Optimisation.

Other than that the organisation should also make sure that the research and
development team is not only thinking about monetary gains but also about a project that
would add value to the environment and work for the benefit of both the organisation and the
customers at the same time. This should enhance the customer relationship and the corporate
social responsibility value for the organisation.
Initiation process group and project documents that are created or used as inputs for a
new project
Initiating the process group: The first and foremost initiation of the process group
would begin by defining the new project which would bring about a new phase within the
organisation of SingularLogic. This initiation process would begin from a new phase of the
existing project so that the authorisation of starting a new project on the new phase is
gathered. After this initiation process, the process group would be initiated by defining the
scope of the project in a detailed manner and also providing information about how much of
the financial resources are being committed in the project (Mahon et al. 2019). There are two
primary procedures or processes during this particular initiation. These are the advancement
to a project charter with a declaration of stakeholder identification. The project charter
creation would enable the documentation initiation phase. This would have information
reported against every task within the project charter. At the same time identification of the
stakeholders at this stage is extremely necessary as this would provide the information about
which people are directly or indirectly associated with the outcome of the project. In this way
the project can be feasibility planned by thinking about the added benefits to each of the
stakeholders.
Project documents: There would be several project documents required for the
development of this project and all of these would be used as the inputs for the new project.
The documents that would be required in this case would be the business case of the project,

the project charter, the RACI Matrix, the work breakdown structure the risk and issue log the
communication plan for the project, the change request management and the project schedule
(Liu et al., 2019).
Conclusion
Therefore, in conclusion, it can be said that SingularLogic is an organisation that has
mostly invested into providing proper business software services to other organisations. The
setup of the private and public organisation that SingularLogic provide services to utilizes the
help from the research and development team, which creates several budget bottlenecks and
Service Delivery bottlenecks. There are also requirement of skilled people in the team due to
which the research and development department is not following a proper rule or
methodology for project selection. In the above discussion, taking up of the new project and
the proper way to select and analyse it for the organisation according to the available
resources is described in details. Along with that the report also contains the information
about what proper documents and initial processes are required for the new project to begin,
reducing the budget for the research and development team.
