Team Building Component
Team building is a very essential element in an organisation. Teams present in the organisation
present a very systematic system of preventing, addressing and solving the various problems
faced by the organisation which cannot be addressed and solved by an individual person alone.
Further effective teams allow encouraging process ownership, opens a line of communication,
gives opportunities to participate in the decision-making process and share responsibility among
all the members of the team (Aga et al. 2016). The elements of the building team are as follows:
Team organisational structure
For the purpose of building an effective team, planning for the team organisational structure is
very necessary. Having a map for the team is very essential. Providing an organisational
structure of the team helps the members of the team easily coordinate with each other,
understand own responsibility, simplifies the process of pitching new ideas, setting up meetings
and also interacting with other team members. Developing an organisational structure of the
team helps the members in knowing their upper level to whom they should communicate for any
kind of issue. Building a team organisational structure also provides transparency among all the
team members which smoothen the communication among team members. Building team
organisational structure helps in successfully taking the actions which can be completed only
through collaboration from the whole team. Unlike the team without any particular structure the
leader continuously focusing on meeting the goals and objectives alone, teams having proper
organisational structure involves all the team members equally focusing and assisting each other
to achieve the common team goals and objectives reducing the burden from a single person
(Merrick et al. 2017).
The structure development of the team should be based on skill set. Team members and
facilitators should be given proper importance. The team members should feel valued and
empowered to make a particular decision. The leaders selected should be skilful and have proper
knowledge regarding the task to be performed by the team and should be able to properly guide
and control the team members and provide required help wherever necessary. All the levels of
the developed team structure should be equipped with skilful and deserving members making the
team structure successful.
