INTRODUCTION
Safeguarding adult from abuse is the most important thing to do in society. It becomes important
to protect adults by providing healthy environment in society. This assignment will throw light
on various forms of abuses and its indicators. It also shows various factors that lead to abusive
situations. Further, the regulations and laws that are made by government to protect individual
will also be discussed. At last, it shows strategies and procedures used in social and health care
centres to reduce the risk of abuse and supportive relationship role.

In order to protect the people from getting abused, there are various regulations that have been
set up by government. They ensure protection of adults and safe guard their work.
Human Rights Act- It was formed in 1998 and is composed of public bodies such as police,
court, etc. and their functions. It protects individual from various kinds of abuse and punishes the
abuser for doing so (Johns, 2017).
Sexual Offences Act- This act protects the individual from getting sexually abused and their
exploitation. It contains a section in which abuse done to mentally disabled people is also
considered a crime as person has taken advantage of it.
Moreover, there are many acts like Mental Capacity Act, Disability Discrimination Order 2006,
The Care Standards Act 2000, Race Relations Act 1965 etc. that provides safety and protect the
individual in various areas. These acts help the government to control and take actions against
people.

P 5 Strategies used in social care to reduce the risk of abuse
It is very important to stop abuses that are happening to people. This will help in building healthy
environment in the society. Various strategies can be followed to reduce this are as follows: -
Communication- This is the best and effective way to reduce the risk of abusing. It helps in
sharing problems with other people. This can be followed in organisation that will help to reduce
the risk.
Need assessment- This can be done to identify individual needs and its personal care. For this
assessment centres are being set up so that they can identify their needs and provide care
accordingly. If needs are identified, then daily living activities can be developed to satisfy the
individual (Mandelstam, 2013).
Care planning cycle- It involves planning the care by identifying the needs. In this, goals and
aims are set after the need assessment. Care worker then evaluates the quality of care with the
goals. This cycle is broken by looking at what went wrong and when.
Anti-discriminatory practises- It means to develop and practise various kinds of anti-
discriminatory practices like educating people regarding social care or establishing care home
centre (Rape Crisis, England and Wales., 2017).
P 6 Role of supportive relationships to reduce the risk of abuse
Core principles of care- They include certain principles that are been provided by professionals
to overcome adults from abuse. These principles are equal behaviour with others, developing
dignity and communicating with respect to others.
Effective relationship- By frequently communicating with person and building a friendly
relationship it will help in sharing of ideas. It will identify the reason of abuse and providing
corrective treatments to them. With this their will be a change of behaviour in them and it will
help him to overcome from any abuse (Anton, and et.al 2015.).
Working practise- In this care planning cycle is used that helps in identifying person needs and
problems and accordingly appropriate measures are taken. Several methods like providing
feeling of care, building confidence helps the person to change its mental behaviour

CONCLUSION
From this report, it is concluded that adults are abused in different manner like financial,
domestic etc. Also, the indicators of happening of these abuses are discussed. Environmental,
personal, physical, etc. are the situations that leads to rise in abusive situations. Moreover, to
protect adult from these acts like human right, mental capacity, care standard, etc. are set up by
the government to control them. Further, strategies like communication, need assessment, etc.
are made to reduce the risk of abuse. At last, the role of supportive relationship in reducing risk
is discussed.
