1a) Using the case study provided,
identify an urgent risk area. Ensure your
answer details why you have identified
this risk area including specific

Chung is a doctor and working in Accident
and Emergency department in a busy
inner-city hospital. He has to work for longer
duration in hospital thus, he is unable to spend
sufficient time with his family. Risk areas for
Chung are sleeplessness, loneliness and self-
harm feelings. He committed suicide, that is the
major risk areas. He feels so bad because he is
unable to spend time with family that is why he
tried to commit suicide (Gu and et.al, 2015).
Though, he is a doctor and well aware with the
overdose of medicines but still due to his
condition he took overindulge of medications.
He wanted to spend some time with his family,
wife and child. But due to his profession he
fails to take care of his family, this feeling has
caused anxiety that increases risk (Ross, 2017).

able to take care of them. Professionals have to
review situation of Chung continuously and
they have to use positive language while
communicating with him (Shoshani and
Steinmetz, 2014). By this way Chung will feel
motivated and will not commit suicide.

The mental health concern in case of Chung is
low mood or anxiety. He is unable to spend
quality time with his family. This has increased
feeling of worthlessness and hopelessness.
(Leonard, Lyons and Bariola, 2015). That is
why he tried to commit suicide or self-harm. If
the person is unhappy with his situation, then
individual feels dampened. Man has low
tolerance that is why he experiences fatigue.
The same happened in case of Chung as well
because he is not happy with his life that is why
he was feeling very low. Thus, major concern
in the case of Chung is his low mood and
anxiety (Depression in Men, 2018).

In order to address mental health concern of
Chung, doctors have to give him
psychotherapy. Cognitive behaviour therapy is
the best intervention in which professionals can
replace negative thoughts of him by
communicating with him properly (Leonard,

rationale) Lyons and Bariola, 2015). Doctors are required
to convey positive message to Chung so that he
can feel good. In addition, interpersonal talking
is another good intervention that can support in
symptomatic recovery of Chung.
3) Using current literature, identify and
discuss (2) two legal, ethical or
professional issues a nurse / midwife
may need to consider when working with
the client in the case study (4 marks).
There are many things that needs to be
considered by midwife while dealing with
Chung (Cacioppo and Cacioppo, 2014). It is
the duty of nurses to maintain secrecy and
should not discuss personal details of Chung
with others. As he is under depression thus, his
personal information needs to be protected
while giving him treatment. Ethical issues that
nurses have to consider are that they have to
follow moral principles. Doctors have to build
strong relationship with patient and they have
to undertake risk assessment carefully
(Leonard, Lyons and Bariola, 2015).
Furthermore, professional issues that need to be
considered are confidentiality, maintaining
public safety. Midwife has to ensure safety of
Chung and have to keep details of him
confidential.
