AI Summary
This report delves into strategies for promoting positive behavior within a classroom setting. It highlights the importance of a positive environment in fostering student potential and emphasizes the use of various approaches to address challenging behaviors. The report examines a specific strategy focused on punctuality, arguing that it promotes discipline and reinforces the significance of time management. Furthermore, it discusses the application of Maslow's Theory of Motivation and Behaviorism in shaping student conduct. Maslow's theory is presented as a framework for understanding student needs and motivating them towards better performance, while Behaviorism is explored as a means of influencing behavior through stimulus-response mechanisms. The report concludes by suggesting that a combined approach, incorporating elements from both theories, can be most effective in creating a positive and productive learning environment.

INTRODUCTION
Positive behaviour is mainly associated with developing a positive environment that is vital
in enabling others to act effectively by the way of highly valued the aspect of trust and authentic
interactions. In the classroom, promoting positive behaviour enable each individual in the
classroom to reach to their potential (WEARING, 2019). Use of various strategies and theories
are made by an organisation to create and have positive behaviour at its workplace which
consists of Maslow Theory of Motivation and Behaviorism theory a description and analysis of
which is provided in current assignment.
Main Body
Strategies to improve classroom behaviour
Positive behaviour strategies in the classroom can help in encouraging to see the behaviour as
a communication form. While coming up with making improvement and enhance development,
it is essential and vital to promote positive behaviour and attitude in the classroom. These are
proactive and evidence based approaches to changing the challenging behaviour of student.
Nonverbal signals, prompting and pre-correcting are the examples of some positive behaviour
strategies. These strategies assist in developing trusting relationship between student and teacher.
The strategy which I have chosen to improve the classroom behaviour is for punctuality. In it, if
the learner is more than 20 min. late, they are not allowed in the lesson. The main reason of
choosing this strategy is that for doing any work or learning anything, punctuality is very
important characteristic that must be possessed by an individual to being able to finish the
required activity or fulfil an obligation at previously designated time (Mitchell, 2020). It also
assists in maintaining discipline in the class and improving the classroom behaviour. Thus, it
become vital for the teacher to adopt or come up with some better strategies that plays significant
role in promoting positive behaviour in classroom to have better implication and execution of
change (Aubrey and Riley, 2018). Here, I am seeking to achieve punctuality in the class and the
aim of choosing this strategy and not allowing students to attend the lesson is to maintain
discipline and teaching the significance of punctuality to the students so that they are able to their
career goals and objectives effectively. A discussion about the strategy to promote positive
behaviour with reference to the theory is discussed and provided as below:

Maslow Theory of Motivation- This is a basically a motivation theory that is applied and
used by teacher for influencing and directing the students for better and improved performance
along with leading a positive environment in the classroom. A Hierarchy of five vital needs of a
person is provided by the Maslow Theory of Motivation which are discussed as below:
Physiological needs- It consists of most basic forms needs like air, water, food, etc.
fulfilment of which leads to a feeling of homeostasis and comfort which motivates and
direct individuals for improved level of performance.
Safety Needs- This type of need is mainly associated with stability and consistency in
work and related with the psychological needs and feeling of safety and security.
Love and needs of belonging- This form of needs are related with the degree and
intensity of social relationship and comprises of meting desires of an individual affiliate
with joining a group or some form of societies (Hale and et. al., 2019).
Self Esteem needs- This form of needs comprises of level of self-confidence, strength,
self-belief, personal and social acceptance, and respect from other which are vital to
boost the inner moral and have positive impact on the performance of employees.
Self-actualisation- It forms to be the highest form of needs which mainly comprises of
realization of a person's potential along with the self-fulfilment and seeking personal
growth and peak experiences in ones careers and life (Zavei and Jusan, 2017).
In relation to the chosen strategy, the theory of motivation helps in motivating the students to
be punctual and attend the classroom on time. Apart from this, punctuality not only help the
students in their academic career, but it also assists in professional career. By learning
punctuality, they gain self-confidence and able to gain respect from others in the society.
Behaviorism theory- Behaviorism is basically a learning theory that studies observable and
measurable behavioural changes, which result from stimulus-response associations made by the
learner. The Behaviorist techniques have long been applied in all form of learning where the
teachers are in a primary role wherein they make efforts to meet and fulfil the learner's behaviour
and directs learning through drill and practice, through habit-breaking, and punishment/reward to
have better execution and implementation of any change. Further, the Behaviorism theory is also
related with and confined to the framework of "behavior", and is governed by the stimulus-
response-reinforcement process. Apart from this, many critism are also related with the
Behaviorism theory as it fails to provide effective link between mental processes, moods, social

dimensions and human emotions (Syawaludin, and Marmoah, 2018). Along with effective
explanation about the kinds of learning that take place without reinforcement and punishment for
better accomplishment and execution of any change by leading positive behaviour. Application
of this theory will help in improving the behaviour of students in the classroom and make them
punctual towards their responsibilities and work.
As per the above discussion, the implication and use of Maslow Theory of Motivation as
it facilitates better understanding about the factors fulfilment of which leads to positive impact
and better influence on the performance of students and direct them towards better performance.
Thus, use of Maslow needs of Hierarchy theory is seemed more suitable for leading positive
behaviour and influencing the students to be punctual in their life so that they are being able to
reach to their fullest potential by the way of meeting and fulfilling their needs and able to
accomplish success in their careers. Beside this, it has been also analysed that the Behaviourism
theory is also effective in improving the behaviour of students. However, it is quite complex and
it is also hard to develop a direct connection among positive behaviour and performance.
Although, it is seemed much effective in adoption of change and leading positive behaviour in
classroom.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above assignment, a conclusion can be made that implication and use of
various strategies like Maslow Theory of Motivation and Behaviorism theory are made by a
teacher to have effective execution of change along with leading a positive behaviour in
classroom. A summarisation can be made that the Maslow Theory of Motivation is effective in
identifying and meeting the needs of individuals which influence and directs them towards better
performance and effective execution of change.
