1. Traditional News Release
Metro College has always strived to deliver on the promise that they have made to the
students and to the public regarding their interests in both academic and sports. Even though
there have been certain issues regarding the women’s basketball team, the college has been
able to overcome the same and come up with strong solutions which will be beneficial for
both the players of the team and the college. With the resignation of Felice Shofar, who was
the coach of the women’s basketball team, a spot was left vacant for a long time. The college
was determined to find someone who would be the best coach for the team. The Division III
women’s team for basketball of Metro College is ranked nationally and has participated in
four national tournaments where they have reached twice into the semi-finals and have won
the title last year. Around 110 applicants were screened to find the best person for the
position and finally, the position was offered to Lucinda Smart, who is the first African-
American woman to become the coach of Metro College. She has an experience of three
years as a centre for the Women’s All-Star Hoopsters touring team and was also an assistant
basketball coach for two years at College of the Hills. She was chosen as the coach of the
women’s basketball team due to her strong background and her expertise in the field of
coaching. Luke Hammer, who is the athletic director at Metro College says, “We feel
fortunate to be able to secure a person who is so highly qualified to lead our outstanding
women’s basketball team. We expect great things from Cindy Smart, and we know she’ll
deliver the goods.”
2. Social media release
Metro College has always regarded athletics and sports to be as equally important as
academic. They have a strong women’s basket team which is ranked nationally and has
participated in four national tournaments where they have reached twice into the semi-finals

have a coach to guide them. However, after an extensive recruitment process, Lucinda Smart
was hired, who is the first African-American woman to become the coach of Metro College.
Lucinda has an experience of three years as center for the Women’s All-Star Hoopsters
touring team and was also an assistant basketball coach for two years at College of the Hills.
Luke Hammer, the athletic director at Metro College states that they feel fortunate to have
Lucinda Smart as a part of the college and hopes that with her high qualification and
experience, she would be able to guide the tea towards a better direction. Under the assistance
and guidance of Lucinda Smart, the team will be able to win several tournaments in the future
and build a strong game strategy which will be beneficial for the future games.
