AI Summary
This assignment is a milestone project for a PSY 315 course, focusing on creating a therapy plan based on a chosen theoretical orientation. The student selected Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and applied it to a case study of a patient named Brenda, a receptionist experiencing anxiety, nervousness, and difficulty with social interactions. The assignment includes a general patient description, highlighting Brenda's symptoms and history, followed by the student's rationale for choosing CBT. The student explains how CBT's focus on developing coping skills and addressing underlying issues, such as trust and social skill deficits, makes it an appropriate treatment approach for Brenda. The student also references the therapy's proven success in helping patients regain their normal state. The assignment demonstrates the student's understanding of CBT principles and their ability to apply them to a real-world patient scenario, aligning with the course objectives of explaining, applying, and practicing helping techniques.

THEORETICAL ORIENTATION 2
Milestone one
General patient description
Brenda has been a receptionist in huladamdam company limited; a company that focuses on
production of cosmetics in the entire south-east region. she has been having instances of being
overanxious and over nervous. As much as she is determined to advance and move on to making
her career life a success as she climb up the ladder, she has been having trouble with composure,
she has had trouble with seeing and socializing with people. Every time they are in a staff
meeting, she is always saying that one of her unique characters is that she does not love
socializing even though it is something she would real love; she is always saying that she has
never understand why she hates people coming for consultation especially when they move very
close to her. Brenda is afraid of becoming so intimate with friends and trusting someone is one of
the last thing she can ever do on this planet earth. She has been having difficult moments since
she last joined the company one and a half years ago after college. She considers staying in
isolation than spend even a fraction of a minute with people. Her receptionist job at the company
has been troublesome and she has been fired because of the negative feedback from the clients
about the receptionist. She found herself doing that which is not supposed to do because she is
very much anxious and nervous, sometimes accompanied with fear.
Theoretical Orientation
I consider cognitive behavior therapy as an appropriate treatment plan for Brenda. This would be
the appropriate type of orientation for a person who has underlying issue of anxiety, nervousness
and fear. The treatment plan focuses on making an individual develop coping skills to cope with

the issues. The other reason why such kind of therapy is appropriate for Brenda is because there
is need for her to develop social skills. She has no social skills and it could be because of the
underlying issues which we do not know that might have caused her to lose trust in people.
The therapy will aim at identifying any underlying issues in Brenda’s life especially in college
because the report indicates that she started losing composure just before she left the college
back in his home town. Upon getting a job in the company, her state became worse and it was
just unbearable for the company’s management even though they were willing to retain her for
the excellent job she had done upon joining. The treatment plan assumes that Brenda underwent
or encountered a situation that literally robbed her the trust for people and whenever she thinks
of it, she feels like she can hate everyone on this planet earth. It is impeded feelings of anxiety,
fear and nervousness that only needs to be addressed amicable over a period. The treatment plan
has shown success over the years in bringing patients to their normal state and am sure it would
work for Brenda too.
