This lab report explores the relationship between language and communication, investigating how language skills influence communication effectiveness. The report begins with an abstract and introduction, providing background information on language and communication, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax, and their roles in the communication process. The experiment aimed to test the correlation between language ability and communication skills, and the methodology involved assessing language ability using the CASL-2 and communication effectiveness using a tangram game. Participants were PSYC1102 students from UWA. The results showed a positive correlation between producer language ability and communication effectiveness, and receiver language ability and interpretation accuracy. The discussion section analyzes these findings, considering limitations and implications, and the report concludes by emphasizing the positive relationship between language and communication and suggests areas for future research.
