Identify and explain how research on decision making can relate to university student
It is necessary for student to take right and effective decision when they study in
University. The decision can be related to studies, choosing subject, career, etc. However, there
is in depth research that is being done in context of decision making (Kim 2018). This is done to
analyse different decision making process and models which can be applied in decision making.
Here, it relate to university student as they have to use a particular model to take decision.
Through it, they are able to solve problems. Basically, decision is based on psychology or on
judgement. Alongside, it is important to do effective management as well. This is entirely based
on decision taken by student. Here, psychology is related to memory, learning, emotion, stress,
etc. thus, it is related to decision making. Judgement is based on ability, capability, skills,
experience, etc. and management is related to managing roles. In research it is found that there
are certain factors which influence or affect decision making. They may be due to psychology,
judgement or management. Therefore, decision is taken on basis of these that enable in analysing
things and then taking decision. However, sometime decisions are purely based on psychology,
judgment or on management. This enable in taking effective decisions. Furthermore, it has been
evaluated that decision making is a complex process as it requires in depth understanding and
review of overall situation. Apart from that, it is time consuming as well. Ineffective decision
take can impact on student career and growth. There is still not an effective model determined by
which accurate decision are taken.
University student need to enhance their learning ability. Hence, it is not done only in
context of decision making but also on management perception. There are various management
views that is observed from individual, interpersonal and organisation effectiveness. Thus,
managers are taking decision based on these three perception (Sternad 2020). Besides, student
psychology is based on learning, stress, etc. So, sometimes they take decision based on
judgment. This result in failure of management. There are different types of decisions which has
to be taken and also decision making process differs as well. Here, purpose of student is to
engage them in process so that effective decision is taken. In effective management it refers to
managing of roles. A manager has to play 3 roles that is interpersonal, decisional and informal.
A university student has to take various decision. They are related to personal and
professional. This require various things to be examined in decision making process. There is

need to have a relevant process so that student can take effective decisions. Due to it more
research is been done that how university student take decisions (Cervone and Caldwell 2015).
There is a specified process followed by which it becomes easy to analyse criteria and take
decision. It provide a basis by which student focus on factors and try to identify them. Then, in
future decisions are taken by considering psychology, judgement and management.
