1. Reading analysis
The readings (Dis) Abilities and Illness and Gender & Sexuality has helped in
identifying the different psychological aspects that drives the attitude of humans towards
sexuality or disabilities that are faced by the people. (Dis) Abilities and Illness analyzes the
aspects of concepts that helps in identifying the type of disability and illness that is faced by the
people and the magnitude of the same (Williams, 1990). On the other hand, the identification of
stigmas has helped in identifying the different disabilities that are faced by the people. The
different awareness and entertainment shows that are hosted as per the Western culture portrayed
the disabilities that are faced by the people. On the other hand, the cultural understanding of the
disabilities and thereby adapting to the different instinctual behavioral shifting will be helping to
identify the different prospects of illnesses.
Gender & Sexuality aims at identifying the chief points of differentiation between gender
of the people and the sexuality of the same. There are different fallacies where people consider
the concepts to be one. However, the article helped in delving deeper into the concepts of gender
and sexuality (Kingston, 1981). Sex is simply the anatomical structure of the humans based on
the reproductive organs. On the other hands, gender constitutes of the social roles played by the
people relating to the sex. The wider concept of gender has helped in identifying the social roles
of the individuals (Mayer & McHugh, 2016). The Kinsley’s Scale that is being identified as a
proficient tool for judging the capabilities of gender and sex in the current scenario identified the
different situations. The situations helped in identifying the different situations through which
the sexuality and gender can be differentiated (Nancy, 1986).

2. Connection to course contents
Since the ancient times disability, illness, gender and sexuality are treated with partial
and mean ways and sometimes in a blend of lame jokes and mockery. In fact, it can be argued
that it is the basic human nature to judge people on the basis of their physical and mental
abilities. Bullying and discrimination are the part of this practice (Dysch, Chung & Fox, 2012).
As a matter of fact, it may be a inside the human psyche to undermine or discredited everything
that are not usual. In fact, to justify these malpractices of cracking jokes and mockery people are
often seek help of religion. Religious dogmas and manifestations have enough power to
influence an individual blindly. In this context, the book ‘Shake hands with the Devil’ showed a
clear understanding about the religious atrocities and ethnic hatred that paves the way for an
inevitable apocalypse (Dallaire & Sarty, 2004). In course of the discussion, the author, Lt. Gen.
Romeo Dallaire depicted the punitive ethnic clash between the Rwandan clans of Hutu and Tutsi
and portrayed a glimpse of the demon inside human mind. This incident was a pure act of
genocide known as the Rwandan genocide where the majority Hutus chopped off the people of
the Tutsi tribe inhumanly (Dallaire & Sarty, 2004).
The author was posted in that region at that time and was a witness of what the devil
inside people can do. In fact, the leading countries and the big powers did not want to interfere in
Rwanda in order to stop this nefarious act. Therefore, a pertinent question arises against the
actual role of mankind to follow the humanitarian approach. It can be argued that this kind of
mentality has become a tradition and it needs to change for the sake of humanity and mankind.

3INTROSPECTION
The discrimination in gender and sexuality and the manner in which the disability of the
people are portrayed in the different shows has affected the ethical considerations. I believe that
the manner in which the stigmas are portrayed in the different contexts of environment has
affected the identification of the ethical considerations that should have been applied on the
different societal intentions. The chapters have helped me in identifying the different conceptions
that are held by the people relating to the personal disabilities and the manner in which they are
portrayed. On the other hand, the differentiation of the social roles played by the genders and
their differentiation with sexuality. The different changes in the societal structure are infested
through the proper functioning of the ethical considerations. The ethical considerations play a
major role in avoiding the diverse ways through which the differentiation is undertaken among
the people in the society. Humanity is one of the major concerns for a proper societal
configuration. However, in the different sections of the readings I have found insanity in the
practices that were undertaken by the people in the society against all ethical claims.
The cultural aspects clearly portray the manner in which the discrimination is put to
place. The readings have helped me in identifying the manner in which the disability and illness
of the people along with the sexuality and gender roles are discriminated in a societal structure.
The readings has helped me in identifying the wide scope of the term “gender” and the manner in
which it can be steadily differentiated from the constrains of human anatomical sexuality. The
clear conception of the ethical dilemmas faced by the society and the manner in which the ethical
dilemma is put to place has helped in maintaining the different changes in diverse situations
faced by the society.
