1PSYCHOLOGY
The behaviour that I would like to increase would include eating healthy and
exercising often. The previous day, I was flipping through my school scrapbook and I felt
shocked more than nostalgic. I was shocked to look at my own photograph and then look at
myself in the mirror. I had gained a lot of weight and looked more aged than my present age.
At that moment, I decided to adapt a healthy diet and exercise more to shed off that extra
weight. Moreover, being fit promotes physical and mental wellness and also improves
concentration (Reiner et al., 2013).
The idea seemed extremely attractive but I was aware that the journey to achieve the
goal was challenging. Strong motivation would govern my determination to stick to my
fitness routine and acquire control over my cravings and unhealthy lifestyle (Dweck, 2013). I
drafted a short-term goal and a long-term goal for myself. The short-term goal would
comprise of my weekly targets of cutting down on carbohydrates and gradually increasing
my sets of crunches and sit-ups. On the other hand, the long-term goal would comprise of
losing my overall weight by at least 5 Kgs. To keep myself motivated, I would read success
stories of fitness bloggers. I feel that I would not be able to continue the monotonous diet of
salads but healthy diet is so much more than salads. I would browse through you-tube and
experiment with a lot of sumptuous dishes of grilled-meat. On completing my weekly target,
I would reward myself with one new recipe every weekend. I would posting my transition to
a healthy life style on social-media and positive comments from friends would help me to
work hard and achieve my long term goal.
