Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This psychology assignment comprises three main parts. Part 1 defines and discusses two psychological concepts: general intelligence (g-factor) as proposed by Spearman, and the equal environment assumption in behavioral genetics, specifically focusing on the influence of shared environments on traits in twin studies. Part 2 involves the interpretation of data from a table, analyzing the impact of various activities (reading, mental arithmetic, number recall, and breathing exercises) on working memory scores at different time intervals (before, after one month, and six months after). The analysis highlights the positive effects of these activities on working memory. Part 3 includes a reflective component addressing the student's experiences with collaborative forums, their enjoyment of idea sharing, and their suggestions for maximizing the benefits of such forums to enhance learning. The student indicates positive engagement with the forums, a desire to learn, and a willingness to participate actively.

PART 1: Describe two psychological concepts
General intelligence can be referred to as an element associated with psychometric
investigations which largely influences the mental capacity to deliver performance on cognitive
level. Also known as g factor, the existence of general intelligence factor was proposed by a
British Psychologist named Charles Spearman in the year 1904. Post using factor analysis to
examine certain mental aptitude tests, Spearman came to the conclusion that the scores obtained
by individuals in these tests were quite similar. It was also observed that people who performed
desirably in one cognitive test also performed well in other similar tests. This can be used for
developing and creating effective knowledge and skill among an individual in proper manner
which encourage them regarding perform work.
The equal environment assumption more commonly known as EEA in behavioural
genetic states that the shared environment have a significant contribution towards a trait in twin
pairs, namely, MZ and DZ. It is a type of biometric model which anticipates the extent to which
the monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twins possess correlation in between them as a result
of their substantial exposure to environmental effects. These effects are etiologically significant
for the traits that are under consideration. The environments can be in the form of school, family
or any kind of environment.
PART 2: Make sense of data in a table
Answer 1: Three: before activities began, after one month of activities and six months after
activities ceased.
Answer 2: On average, and compared to the other activities, the number recall task had the
greatest positive effect on the working memory score six months after the activity stopped.
Answer 3: The table shows that taking part in two of the four activities improved the average
working memory score after one month. However, improvement in the average working memory
score six months after the activities has ceased was sustained in only one type of activity.
Rationale: It is important for measuring the child's memory in better manner while they
are learns new things and gain experience. The senior members focus on child's activities in three
times on regular basis which help them in performing good work. This study is important
because they learnt how to solve mental arithmetic questions in better manner and number task
performed in limited time period. The memory of child’s is sharp when they read books in three

times a week. On the other hand, this table shows that all the four activity such as reading,
mental arithmetic, number recall task and breathing exercises are fluctuated in very time.
PART 3: Reflective component
