This report, crafted as part of a Psychology in Health and Social Care assignment, undertakes a reflective analysis of psychological theories, specifically Piaget's and Erikson's, and their implications within the infancy stage. The report utilizes Kolb's reflective model to systematically explore concrete experiences, reflective observations, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation related to these theories. It delves into the cognitive and social development of infants, examining the roles of health care professionals in applying these theories, and discussing practical applications in health and social care practice. The assignment also touches upon related research, such as the benefits of yoga for cancer patients and the impact of omega-3 fatty acids on impulsive behavior, to illustrate the relevance of psychological principles in healthcare settings. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of understanding psychological theories for promoting better cognitive and social development in children and improving overall healthcare practices.

cognitive development with the use of behavioural theory and social learning theory was also
provided along with the infancy stage of development. Apart from this, a research in health and
social care was also conducted by me that lead to boost by knowledge about the benefits of yoga
for treatment of cancer patients along with an analysis of a more study based on the how omega-

Reflective Observation of the New Experience get through task 1- The psychological
theories which were discussed by me under the task 1 lead to effective development and better
understanding for me as an analysis has been drawn by me that development of the key
psychological theory are vital to have better understanding about the development and change
going on in various lifespan in a consistency form throughout the various stage of life. It has
been learnt by me that an individual undergo from many physical, social, cognitive, emotional
and intellectual change during the life which are studied with the help of psychologist theory. It
has been also observed by me that development theory of psychology are vital and could be
applied by social and health care worker to have better understanding about the evolution of an
individual in terms of various stages of life. I had learnt that the Jean Piaget's theory of
development is one of those vital behavioural theory that lead to most influential figures for
development of psychology based on the first exposure to children’s intellectual development
trough making use of standardise IQ test. The main findings and observation leant by me from
the Jean Piaget's theory of development comprise of the fact that minds of children are much just
as a smaller copy of adult minds and children were not less intelligent as compared to adults but
the only difference is that children thinks in a different way. Further, the Jean Piaget's theory of
development has also reflected that the all the individuals were went through a same four stages
of life to meet and attain the goals of their current stage to reach from one stage to next. The
another vital behavioural theory that was analysed and evaluated by me in task 1 is Erik Erikson
physiological development theory that was associated with both development of individuals as
well as with the social and cultural identity of a person with the help of analysis of eight vital
stages of development.
Apart from this, a better understanding and analysis about the several factors that tend to
make affect on human development was also analysed by me which consists of biological and
environmental factors for which implication of behavioural theory was made by me that lead
better understanding about the cognitive development of an individual. Beside this, Social

learning theory was also reviewed by me that explores models and suggest that people learn after
authority figures and their behaviour is influenced by watching and dubitation of lives of people
within in their society.
The main focus of task 1 lead out by me was based on two lifespans psychological
theories for infancy stage of life along with human cognition, emotions, and behaviour patterns
specific to infancy stage of development. It has been learnt by me that the infancy stage of life is
one where a infant starts to know the world by the way of sensation and their movements
comprises of some basic action like sucking, grasping, looking and listening. Further, it has been
also observed that till the age of 2 years a child not only grow physically but also a have a
cognitively development. Thus, implication of development theory of Piaget and the
psychosocial stages of Erickson ensures and leads to better analysis and evaluation of early stage
development of a child during the stage of infancy which is the main reason behind making use
of these theories in task 1. It has been learnt by me that the Piaget theory is divided into six sub
stages which comprises of reflexive activity, primary circular reactions, secondary circular
reactions, coordination of reactions, tertiary circular reaction and initial or representational
thinking during the early stage of life. The first stage of reflexive activity tend to last from birth
to one month where reflexive behaviour of child is shown and in the second stage which tend to
expected from 1 to 4 months child intestinally started the repeating the things. Further, it has
been also observed by the Piaget theory that during the age of 2 years, babies also started to
develop expectation about a situation along with witness the first events of their life.
Further, the theory of Erickson’s observation states that young infants during the age of 2
also started to either trust or mistrust their environment and start developing a relation with
physical development and social implications present in their environment. Further, it has been
also observed by the analysis of Erickson’s theory of development that at the infancy stage child
started developing cognitive development through sensory perceptions and object manipulation
with the discussion of eight vital stages which comprises of include confidence vs. distrust,
autonomy vs. shame/doubt, initiative vs. guilt, achievement vs. inferiority, identity vs. role
uncertainty, friendship vs. alienation, generatively vs. stagnation, and dignity vs. desperation.

that comprises of use of Yoga for treatment of cancer patient that could be effectively applied by
me in my day to day practises. It has been analysed and observed by me that yoga leads a
positive experience to the treatment of patient's whit gynaecological cancer. Further, it has been
also learnt that Breastfeeding beyond infancy is leading a positive impact with health
professionals helping them. Apart from this, it has been also observed that the omega-3 can help
the brain to regulate impulsive reaction to aggressive behaviour in response to impulsive
physical aggression.
Further, Role as a health care professional in applying the learnt psychological
perspective comprises of the fact that health professionals plays a vital and central role in
improving the access and quality of health care by the way of effectively applying the theories of
Piaget’s and Erikson’ as it tend to give better understanding of cognitive development of a child.
Further, it has been also analysed that the role of health and social care comprises of providing
essential services to people that promote health, prevent diseases and deliver health care services
to individuals, families and communities based on the primary health care approach. Thus,
effective use of Piaget’s and Erikson’ could be made by me to ensure better development of a
child in practical life along with facilitating better guidance and information for parents of
infants to ensure their more effective cognitive and social development.
Applying of current learning in health and social care practice
Active Experimentation- This step of Kolb’s learning model facilitates better analysis and
practical application of learning in real life. The learning gained by me through current
assessment is associated and related with behavioural psychology theories, Piaget’s and Erikson’
within the first stage of life, infancy that tend to lead to a better understanding that how the better
cognitive and social development of a child and infant can be done in more effective and better
manner. Apart from this, a better understanding of Erikson theory lead to and ensure more
effective social interactions within health and social care sector along with successful completion
and effective shaping of essential task for leading better health perspective and treatment of
illness. Apart from this the behavioural theory given by Jaen Piaget lead to more effective and
better understanding in me as a social and health acre professional to have more better cognitive
development of child by the way of better analysis of various development stages between the 0-
2 years of a child and help children to effectively organise knowledge. Further, application of

suggestion can also be made by me in practical life as it lead positive effects and better physical
and mental development of an individual. Further, it has been also learnt by me during current
investigation that intake of some omega 3 fatty acid in the diet of an individual is helpful in
adapting their response to have a check and control on impulsive physical aggression which
could be applied in health and social care practice to lead a more positive society.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of current assignment a conclusion can be made that the Piaget and Erikson
theories of psychology lead to better cognitive and social development of a child at the infancy
stage. Further, it has been also learnt that Babies begin to develop just instinctual reflexes along
with an inherent learning capacity during infancy stage. Further, it has been also analysed that
the during the stage of infancy, child start to develop an identifiable personalities and also begin
to differentiate between trust and mistrust based on their reflective action. At last, it has been
also summarised that yoga has many benefits in day to day life as it lead a positive impact on
physical and mental health of an individual along with leading better support in treatment of a
