Qn.2 How is juxtaposing different or even conflicting perspectives aid one's understanding of a
complex problem, event, or behavior?
In this case, we will look at two metaphors; one for bridge building and the other for mapping in
relation to the perceptions of the book regarding case management and public administration.
The bridge building metaphor to support case management and public administration
This kind of metaphor connotes tool borrowing as well as disciplinary methods as argued out by
Repko and Szostak (2017, pp. 42–47). The metaphor also has two attraction sources. One source
is entangled to the idea of portraying the manner in which interdisciplinary activities happen to
be a thing taking place between different disciplines. Another attraction is related to the idea that
interdisciplinary studies happen to have an orientation which is applied.
Having noted the definitions, it is vital to determine the fact that certain units relating to bridge
building would include explorations on the manner in which environmentalists cooperate with
the government and also businesses which all bring us to aspects of public administration.
Aspects of case management will help in having the environment sustained as well as meeting
the needs for economic development with regards to the society. As portrayed in the highlighted
sections, case management and public administration concepts are used to prove the manner in
which understanding and proper communication would be developed between societal groups

On the contrary, the section does not clearly bring out the manner in which the techniques of
bridge building are used to define inter-disciplinary processes of research, studies, and
integration in relation to case management. According to the section, individuals regarded as
bridge builders happen not to be associated with engaging in problematic choices as well as
critical reflection which is a vital aspect of case management (Limbach & Jong, 2014). However,

disciplinary logics are vital factors of bridge building. In a different perspective, the metaphor
provides a suggestion that interdisciplinary study happens not to be much concerned concepts of

The Mapping Metaphor
Mapping happens to be a metaphor that is based on the fact that having knowledge carved up is
same as practicing mapmaking or cartography. However, the process of mapping includes am
integrated or “combinational” method to have information displayed of which is gathered from
different sources.
The identified section happens to be out mapping knowledge sources with regards to public
administration. It also shows the manner in which case management is fragmented in other
disciplines like social sciences. According to the section, one is also able to map theoretical
application of concepts of public administration, disciplines, intellectual debates, school of
thoughts, and knowledge integration. It is from this part that one can develop a proper
understanding regarding the level in which interdisciplinary approaches are vital to case
management.
According to the section, having a problem mapped will have the same broken down into parts.

behave or even relate. Such a strategy is vital for the disciplinarians since they can use the same

metaphor has a weakness which is that it juxtaposes knowledge. Another related disadvantage is
that this map has some aspects emphasized over others which then have thoughts constrained or
even thoroughly mislead. Like the map mentioned earlier, this map also has some of the
disciplines related to building relationships and also include explorations on the manner in which
environmentalists cooperate with the government and also businesses (Rouse, 2017).
