Upon analyzing the case study a number of physical, economic and social risks can be
identified that limit the wellness of Susan and Lisa. Clearly, on account of Susan’s limited
education, her possibility of getting a better job is limited which directly poses a risk in relation
to financial stability. Also, on account of the busy work schedule, Susan invariably depends upon
the inexpensive takeaway meals for sustaining herself and Lisa. Regular consumption of
inexpensive and unhealthy takeaway meals might trigger the possibility of chronic health
conditions such as obesity, Diabetes and other disorders (Jaworowska et al., 2013). Also, on
account of residing next to an industrial area, Susan has already been suffering from headaches
and Lisa has developed asthma. Also, Susan does not have any social or financial support from
her family and is emotionally exhausted because of her abusive relationship with her husband.
On analyzing the life stressors of Susan and Lisa, it can be mentioned that the
government could develop free of cost community physical and mental health care services
which could help in improving access to health care facilities for them. Also, Government could
fund community projects such as cottage industry employment to single mothers like Susan so as
to foster financial stability. Also, schools across Australia could revise the enrolment policies
and support 10% of struggling students like Lisa by offering a wavier in their school fees. This
would help students like Lisa continue their education and progress in their career. Also,
Government policies could offer to help single mothers like Susan to pursue their career or
education through scholarships and wavier in fees structure (Bashevkin, 2013). This would help
in addressing the environmental risk factors and improve the quality of living for people like
Lisa and Susan.
