INTRODUCTION
Public health law is the study of legal power and duties of the state that are being
combined with its partners which are healthcare businesses to ensure the conditions for the
people to be healthy. The present report is based on a case study which reflects the learning and
information that as healthcare professional can extend to their existing knowledge and skills. The
report will also demonstrate how it helps in their future practice and enhancing their career
requirement.
1. Demonstrating specialized knowledge of public health law and policy in terms of function,
importance with relevance to public health practises.
As per accessing the public health laws and policy, being a health care professional, it is
important to understand the competencies in the public health sectors. It has assisted in
identifying the aspects of different areas of public health practises in Australia. The module
helped in providing deeper awareness of the public health care. It is clear that a study of the legal
power and duties of the state in collaboration with a motive to be ensure that local public are
recognized as healthy and safe (Detels & et.al., 2011). Further, such unit of HSC has increased
my understanding about different indicators and population health data. It has also provided
deeper insight to me different measures for population health indicators. It will assist my
functioning of calculating and interpreting occurrence and association between exposure and
diseases. This unit will help in giving core guidance on basic education and training in the area
of public health. It has helped in better communicating to population health information.
Study elements regarding HSC has increased my awareness about generating and
interpreting descriptive statistics. This in turn will will help in summarising and displaying
epidemiologic data prominently. It has increased my knowledge regarding different determinants
and causes of significant population health problem (Gostin and Sridhar, 2014). The unit has
further helped in establishing my knowledge regarding the different features of various types
surveillance system and different screening programme. It has also presented various
components of a surveillance system which exhibits how and when to use such components
(Foundation Competencies for Public Health Graduates and Curriculum Framework, 2018). It
has further helped me in developing knowledge about how to prevent and control various types

diseases among human population. As a health care professional, the unit has assist me to
evaluate different plan disease prevention and control strategies.
Curriculum pertaining to the health policy, planning and management area of practice
provided information about different component of an immunisation, screening, contact tracing,
risk communication activity etc. Further, such HSC guide has developed my understanding
regarding legal framework, organisational structure and service delivery system which will guide
in functioning of prevention and control of diseases. Further, module has increased the
knowledge and importance of implementing and formulating responses to public health
emergency. It enhanced my capabilities regarding effective intervention strategies related to
public health emergencies (Abraham and Lewis, 2014). As a health care profession, it is
important for me to analyse emergency response measures within the health and emergency
services sector. There are different relationship between health behaviours, human biology and
disease prevention and control which the study curriculum reflected. It has guided me in
different ethical, social and legal issues which are related to disease prevention and control.
Moreover, the section pertaining to HSC assisted in guiding regarding health protection.
It has assisted me in better functioning on promoting, developing and supporting physical
intervention that ensures a safe and healthy environment. However, the unit has helped me in
understanding the uses of data warehouses regarding environmental standards. It have also
enhanced my understanding different legislative and ethical issues relating to environmental
health protection. It has increased my capability of environmental standards through climate
change theory. It benefitted me by increasing my skills regarding function of national and
international environmental health agencies.
2. Evaluating the applicability and practical effects of public health legislative schemes tp
particular situations in public health practises.
As per analysing the module, it has helped in increasing the knowledge and skills related
to different the public health care law and policies. It will help in making future career as health
care professionals. A competency describes the performance of a complex set of skills that when
combined and inter-related and describe a potential composite performance by the learner that is
greater than the sum of the individual skills (Weine and et.al., 2017). It suggests a competency-
based curriculum should include a statement of goals, competencies and objectives to organise

the program into manageable components. It has increased the baseline regarding the laws and

By summing up the above report it can be concluded that being an health care
professional, it is important to study the public health care law and policies. The present report
has concluded specialized knowledge pertaining to public health care and policy that evaluated
the abilities and skills. The report has also included the applicability and practical effort that
