Part 2
The original post is comprehensive as it expounds on all the elements of effective oral
communication a leader should possess. The author has touched almost all aspects of oral
communication skills a leader should possess. However, I feel that the author should have done
more than that by providing relevant examples to give weight to his ideas.
As much as the author labored to explore all the elements that make an effective leader, I
feel that he left some important elements in his discussion. For instance, clear delegation of roles
is a very important aspect of communication a leader should possess (De Nobile, 2016).
Whenever leaders delegate tasks, they should clearly define the responsibilities and roles to
avoid confusion. Besides, the writer also forgot to include active listening as effective skill
leaders should possess (Dwyer, 2016). Active listening will enable leaders to hear their
employees and clients and give effective responses. Therefore, the author should have
remembered to include these vital aspects.
I was hoping to see many examples in the author’s work. To my disappointment,
however, I could not find even a single example to back up his points. The only example that the
author seems to use does not fit into his presentation since it serves no purpose. The author gives
examples of power a leader possess, which, he does not in any way use to illustrate how they
influence effective oral communication. The author, therefore, leaves the reader confused as to
what the role that specific part of his presentation plays.
