Activity number 1
Threat Assessment
It is the very first step in the risk management program. A threat assessment has all the spectrum
of threats involving Natural, criminal and accidental threats. The supporting information would
be analyzed to evaluate the threat. For the context of natural threats, the data of frequencies
natural disaster would be analyzed and evaluated for the risk management (Chan, 2017).
For the criminal threat, the crime rates in the region can be assessed and analyzed in order to
implement the threat in the Risk management matrix. The type of assets involved in the risk
assessment would be implemented by the likelihood of accidents. In the terrorist threat
assessment, the method of terrorism is applicable and should be evaluated for the Threat
assessment (Deng, 2018).
The more specific the assessment is, it is that much consistent to being performed by large
number of individuals responsible for the assessment.
Defined: there are aggressors who uses this tactic, which will target the facilities of
Organization. The law enforcement agencies generally identify the specific threats.
Credible: Man made: There are aggressors who target this type of facilities to utilize the tactics.
In such assessment of threat, the specific threats are not utilized well. Such events or threats have
the tendency to arise in every 10 years (Khan, 2019).

Vulnerability assessment: when the plausible threats been identified, such threats are under
vulnerable risk assessment. This particular assessment usually assesses the potential impact over
an attack with the vulnerability of the facility and asset of organization. The impact of loss is
immediate in order to impair the key of successful attack.

Very high This risk is not acceptable, and measure for immediate type is required
to be accessed.
High This risk is also not at all acceptable and reassessment and
measurement is required.
Medium This risk can be accepted but only for a short period of time.
Low This risk is completely acceptable.
Practical Activity 2
Based on your answer to Practical Activity 1, what assessment criteria do you recommend to
measure the level of potential risk? Explain how your answer relates to the terms of reference.
Below is the measurement or assessment criteria for a potential risk involved in the assets of any
organization. The measurement criteria of the risk are divided into 4 criteria namely; minor,
noticeable, severe and devastating. These potential risks

The assessment criteria for potential risk is explained above in the matrix. The minor threats or
risks can be accepted at any vulnerabilities; low, medium, high or very high. Hence irrespective
of the vulnerability of the risk involved minor risk is acceptable.
But in the noticeable risk involved, only low vulnerability of risk is acceptable, but medium,
high and very high noticeable risk is acceptable only for a very short period of time. The severe
risk is acceptable only when its vulnerability is quite low, and when its vulnerability is medium,

it is acceptable but only for short period of time, and with high and very high vulnerability it is
not acceptable unless rectified (Arcilla, 2017).
Activity number 4
Before the meeting you need to put together a standard operating procedure for
communication during initial consultations.
The purpose of the initial consultation: the purpose of this initial consultation because recently
we have noticed an issue where one of the team members has been found out to be rude and
asked inappropriate questions to client which made our client felt down and has a negative
impact over our security agency. Hence this initial consultation is to demonstrate how to talk to
our clients and how to behave in the interrogation.
Legal obligations regarding the access to client’s information: there are certain legal obligation
where you cannot ask some in dept personal questions to our clients (Kuenzli,2017).
Procedure to follow for initial consultation: the procedure for initial consultation would be
under:
Identifying recent scenarios like Craig MacArthur, and analyse those also
Training sessions conducted in order to improve communication and interpersonal skills
of the team members and leaders with clients.
Monitoring the skills along with the consistency.
Feedback been taken by clients further more.
Examples of effective questions to obtain information: some of the appropriate questions which
can be asked to grab the information are:
The purpose of traveling to Mexico?
How much days you would be staying?
Are you have some other plans rather than just travelling?
Is someone in relation living here in Mexico?
Principles of effective communication: the principle of effective communication is to get the
most accurate information about the travellers, because if the information is not accurate, crime
can be devastating and it won’t be easy for police department to reach them.

How to communicate in a clear and concise manner: Maintain low pitch and smile on the face
while asking questions to the clients. Be gentle and polite also.
Interviewing and questioning techniques to obtain information: Interviews and questionnaires
can be used also to improve the questioning techniques. Questionnaires is quite a good option for
gathering information.
Actions to avoid during an initial consultation: overlapping of two or more activities should be
neglected, because it can create blunder as members won’t be able to focus over one activity at a
time.
